Recent news suggests we might find out about the sequel to Hogwarts Legacy – and when we can play it – soon. While the game hasn’t been officially announced, development is underway. With three years having passed since the first game came out, fans are starting to expect news and a potential release date.
Avalanche Software, the team behind the popular Hogwarts Legacy game, has recently hired a new Community Manager, suggesting they may be preparing to announce a sequel. This mirrors a similar hiring pattern in December 2021, which was followed by the game’s official reveal at a PlayStation event four months later and a full marketing push leading up to its 2023 launch. This new hire, along with other recent developments, hints that an announcement could be coming soon.
Another Noteworthy Avalanche Software Update
The recent hiring suggests Avalanche Software is preparing to showcase a new project and launch a marketing campaign. Typically, companies hire video capture artists specifically to create footage for trailers and promotional materials, indicating a reveal is likely coming soon. Everything seems to be falling into place.
There’s been speculation that Hogwarts Legacy 2 might come out in 2027 or 2028. The game is expected to connect with the new Harry Potter TV series on HBO, which is scheduled to premiere on December 25, 2026. This timing would allow the game to be released in 2027, potentially in the first few months, similar to how the first game launched in early 2023. Given this timeline, we can expect an announcement about the sequel sometime in 2026, and recent updates suggest that’s likely to happen soon.
It’s unlikely Avalanche Software or WB Games would address these rumors, particularly if they turn out to be true. However, we’ll share any new information as it becomes available.
