NCSoft, a major developer and publisher of MMORPGs, will be the main sponsor of G-Star 2025 in Busan, giving attendees a first look at their upcoming games. They plan to have over 300 gaming stations at the event, and are teasing one project as a revolutionary step forward for the MMORPG genre.
NCSoft is expected to heavily feature Aion 2 at the event, including a hands-on demo of character creation and a reimagined version of a popular dungeon. They’re also planning to reveal a brand new game, rumored to be a massive multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) based on the Horizon franchise from Sony and Guerrilla Games. This new title, known internally as Project Skyline, was initially revealed through leaks and speculation.
The report suggests the development schedule for the Horizon online game began around 2021. Therefore, it’s likely the company will officially reveal the game at a major event in 2025. G-Star 2025, scheduled for November 13-16, could be that event.
Earlier this year, reports suggested that the Horizon massively multiplayer online game, known internally as Project H, was canceled. These reports also mentioned the halting of development on Project J and Pantera. However, a more recent report clarified that while Project H was indeed canceled, it wasn’t the Horizon MMO being developed in collaboration with Guerrilla Games. It was a separate, unrelated project.
NCSoft plans to showcase Cinder City at G-Star 2025, alongside Aion 2 and potentially the Horizon MMO. Officially announced in August, Cinder City is a tactical shooter set in a dark, futuristic version of Seoul, and is scheduled for release on PC and consoles in 2026. Players will be able to explore virtual recreations of real Korean locations like Samseong-dong and Noyeong-dong within the game.
In announcing their new game, Cinder City, BigFire Games CEO Jaehyun Bae explained the title reflects a future where humanity struggles with a major crisis, and players will be a beacon of hope within a decaying city. BigFire Games is committed to delivering a game that players worldwide will enjoy.
Originally revealed in November 2022 as Project LLL, Cinder City is an open-world, third-person shooter. Developer Bae Studios aims to create a unique multiplayer shooter experience, different from the many battle royales and looter shooters available. They plan to do this by offering a variety of gameplay styles and incorporating elements from other games published by NCSoft.
