It was just a matter of time before Sony acknowledged the resemblance between Tencent’s “Light of Motiram” and their own “Horizon” series. Interestingly, a recent lawsuit uncovered by Shinobi602 on Twitter also revealed that the sales figure for the former has exceeded 38 million copies.
The sales figure has noticeably increased compared to the 32.7 million sales recorded in May 2023. Unfortunately, Sony did not disclose the individual sales figures for Horizon Zero Dawn, Forbidden West, and Call of the Mountain. Additionally, it remains unclear whether these numbers encompass the sales of the spin-off game LEGO Horizon Adventures as well.
In February 2022, the game titled “Horizon Forbidden West” was released on both PS4 and PS5 consoles, and by 2023, it had sold approximately 8.4 million copies worldwide. This game became available for PC users in March 2024. The previous title, “Horizon Zero Dawn,” received a remastered version last year, but the exact number of units sold has yet to be disclosed.
It’s being said that a third installment of the series could be under development, possibly alongside NCSoft. Guerrilla Games and NCSoft are rumored to be collaborating on an online game, though this is not yet confirmed. Since neither party has made any official announcement, keep your eyes peeled for future updates.
Horizon franchise has sold over 38 million copies, per Sony’s recent lawsuit filed against Tencent.
That averages to about 6 million copies sold in the past two years, with the last update being 32 million in May 2023.#HorizonZeroDawn #HorizonForbiddenWest #PS5— Shinobi602 (@shinobi602) July 28, 2025
