House Of The Dragon Season 3’s Release Date Officially Confirmed As New Trailer Unveils Bloodiest Battles Yet

I’m completely gripped by the Game of Thrones prequel! This summer, the Targaryen family’s devastating civil war is escalating to an unbelievably brutal point, and it’s just… intense. All the fire and blood you’d expect, but even more shocking than before.

HBO revealed the official trailer for House of the Dragon season 3 at CCXP Mexico City, and it’s now available for everyone to watch. The trailer confirms the season will premiere on June 21st. This new teaser follows one released in February and showcases the eagerly awaited Battle of the Gullet, along with other key moments. You can watch the official trailer below.

The third season of House of the Dragon will consist of eight episodes, released weekly on Sunday nights on both HBO and HBO Max, beginning this June. Even before season 3 premieres, HBO has renewed the show for a fourth and final season, set to air in 2028. This will continue the pattern of a two-year gap between each season.

Season 3 of House of the Dragon will bring back many familiar faces, including Emma D’Arcy as Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen, Matt Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryen, Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower, Tom Glynn-Carney as King Aegon II Targaryen, Ewan Mitchell as Prince Aemond Targaryen, Harry Collett as Jacaerys Velaryon, Fabien Frankel as Ser Criston Cole, and Steve Toussaint as Lord Corlys Velaryon. To build excitement for the new season, Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, and Fabien Frankel appeared at a House of the Dragon panel during CCXP Mexico City on April 25th.

HBO’s House of the Dragon is a prequel to Game of Thrones, taking place almost 170 years earlier and around 80 years before A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. It’s based on George R.R. Martin’s book Fire & Blood, which recounts the history of House Targaryen through different perspectives. The series shows the Targaryens at their most powerful, with a large number of dragons, before a devastating civil war leads to their extinction – a point in time before the events of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

As a huge fan, I’m so excited for more from the Game of Thrones universe! We’re getting season 3 of House of the Dragon soon, and then in 2027, season 2 of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will be here. But that’s not all – Warner Bros. has announced they’re making a movie too! It’s called Game of Thrones: Aegon’s Conquest for now, and it’ll tell the story of King Aegon I Targaryen taking over Westeros, happening over a hundred years before the events of House of the Dragon. It’s going to be amazing!

House of the Dragon season 3 premieres on HBO on June 21.
