How Diane Keaton Was Laid to Rest

More details about Diane Keaton‘s death have been revealed.

After the actress passed away on October 11th at the age of 79, a death certificate obtained by TopMob News on October 16th revealed she was cremated on October 14th.

The report confirmed she died from bacterial pneumonia, an illness her family had previously shared she was fighting.

The Keaton family expressed their deep gratitude for the overwhelming love and support they’ve received since the passing of their beloved Diane on October 11th. In a statement to *People* magazine on October 15th, they shared that Diane was passionate about animals and helping people experiencing homelessness. They request that, in lieu of flowers, donations to a local food bank or animal shelter would be a meaningful way to honor her memory.

Although the specific details of her illness weren’t released, a close friend, Carole Bayer Sager, said the *Father of the Bride* actress hadn’t been feeling well for several weeks before she passed away.

“She was very thin,” Carole told People of their recent visit. “She had lost so much weight.”

For her friends, the news was shocking.

Jane Fonda expressed disbelief and sadness over the passing of Diane, sharing her thoughts on Instagram on October 11th. She remembered Diane as a vibrant and joyful person who always found humor in herself and was incredibly creative in all aspects of her life – from her acting and style to her interests and perspectives. Fonda described Diane as truly one-of-a-kind and a talented actress, even if Diane herself didn’t fully recognize it.

And for her mentees throughout the years, they couldn’t help but reflect on how she impacted them.

Reese Witherspoon shared a touching memory of one of her early mentors, recalling how the woman helped her when she was just starting out. Witherspoon said she was 15 years old and new to the industry, having moved from Nashville, Tennessee, without any connections.

She remembered someone taking the time to give her advice on her posture, saying, ‘Stand up straight. Good posture is important, especially if you want to be an actress, so you need to work on it.’

Reese suggested honoring Diane Keaton by watching one of her films. She also encouraged people to express themselves through a stylish black and white outfit, capture a great photo, and embrace their individuality. Reese believes Diane would appreciate seeing people live authentically and be themselves. She ended with a message of rest in peace for Diane.
