To hear Shannon Hart tell it, she almost slept on now-husband Josh Hart.
When the future Knicks star transferred to Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C.—a school also attended by Chelsea Clinton, Malia Obama, and Sasha Obama—he didn’t immediately become a prominent figure.
In a recent interview with The New York Times, Shannon recalled everyone wondering who this new student was. She described how he’d consistently arrive half an hour late to class, then casually walk in, drop his bag, and fall asleep right in front of the teacher – something she found incredibly unbelievable.
Still, she found herself huddling up with the 6-foot-5 athlete.
About a year after they first connected, the man from Silver Springs, Maryland, took a chance and texted the soccer player to ask her if she had romantic feelings for him.
Their first date, at the campus’ cafe, the Fox Den, auspiciously took place on November 11, 2011.
She remembered him being incredibly nervous, almost shaking. Josh jokingly explained his past habit of dating multiple people by saying he was worried about having to tell the others he’d chosen someone else.
It’s easy to say Shannon’s dreams came true – she and her three-year-old twins, Hendrix and Haze, were there to see Josh and the New York Knicks win their first NBA championship in 53 years on June 13th. But their journey to happiness wasn’t always smooth; they faced several challenges along the way.
The nurse was honest about experiencing breakups during her college years. While she played soccer at Rutgers University and later UMBC, her roommate – who would become a successful basketball player named Jalen Brunson and eventually play for the Knicks – led Villanova University to a championship in 2016 (and repeated the feat in 2018). She described their relationship as having its ups and downs.

Even when things went wrong, they were still working hard and building a lasting partnership.
The 31-year-old explained to the Times that their periods of being apart actually helped them mature and develop as individuals, but they always found their way back to each other. They ultimately knew they were meant to be together.
After her son was drafted into the NBA in 2017, she often traveled by plane from the Washington D.C. area to Los Angeles, balancing those trips with completing her nursing degree at the University of Maryland.
Following Josh’s trade to the New Orleans Pelicans, his partner found work in orthopedics and sports medicine in the city. He playfully celebrated her December 2019 Master’s degree graduation on Instagram, joking that she would now “harass me in New Orleans.”
She recently shared with TopMob News that her passion for medicine stems from a desire to connect with and help others. She especially enjoys the direct interaction nursing provides – being with patients, understanding their needs, and providing support.
By the time he landed in Portland, they had married at 1 Hotel South Beach in Miami.
After being traded back to the New York area – Mikal Bridges from the Brooklyn Nets and Donte DiVincenzo to the Minnesota Timberwolves – the couple had twin sons and moved to Westchester, New York. Their home includes a fun basement with a jungle gym and even bumper cars!
“It takes a village,” she explained to TopMob about how she became so skilled with the ball. “Everyone – my caregivers, family, friends – all pitch in and support me, and it truly makes all the difference.”
Though, of course, Josh remains her MVP.
The couple likes to celebrate his return from trips with a bottle of their Seven Harts wine. When they’re not busy, they enjoy spending almost all their time together.
He explained to the Times that the secret to their strong relationship was prioritizing time together – not just squeezing it in when they could, but actively creating opportunities to connect.
And so once the Knicks’ ticker-tape parade wraps June 18, the duo have big plans to ride the bench.
She told TopMob they have a couple of vacations scheduled and are really looking forward to relaxing. Their plan is to take it easy and not rush around – just enjoy being home and not constantly traveling.
Their relationship isn’t the only exciting one in the NBA! Here’s a look at other basketball stars who’ve found love.

Jordyn Woods got exactly what she wished for this Christmas: a proposal from Karl-Anthony Towns! The model playfully posted on Instagram with the caption “Marry Christmas,” sharing a photo of the basketball player getting down on one knee. The romantic moment happened at Overstory, a stylish bar on the 64th floor of a New York City skyscraper.
Although her impressive engagement ring has gotten a lot of attention since 2024, what really makes their relationship strong is simply enjoying each other’s company. She shared in 2021 on her Instagram series, Regular-ish, that dating your best friend is special because you already have such a deep understanding of each other – knowing each other’s strengths and weaknesses, and having supported one another through difficult times.

Singer Coco Jones clarified that she wasn’t intentionally keeping her relationship with Cleveland Cavaliers player Donovan Mitchell a secret, but simply wasn’t ready to share the details publicly. Appearing on Club Shay Shay in March 2025, Jones explained, “I don’t want to feel like I have to hide anything or anyone.” She values openness and doesn’t want either partner feeling possessive.
The Bel-Air actress explained that she values privacy because she wants to protect herself, her family, and the people she cares about.
It seems she’s truly happy with her fiancé, the seven-time NBA All-Star, who proposed by the ocean in July 2025 and even shared drone footage of the moment. She described the feeling of planning her wedding as something beyond words. At the 2026 Grammys, she told TopMob News, “I’ve experienced so much – events, planning, fittings, incredible outfits – but this feels completely different and unexplainable.”

When Jayson Tatum suffered a serious Achilles injury during the 2025 playoffs, he considered retiring from basketball. As the Boston Celtics star forward revealed to TopMob News, he thought, “I could have decided I’d done enough.” However, it was the support of his family that motivated him to continue, reminding him of those he would disappoint if he stopped playing. The 2024 champion ultimately decided to keep pursuing his career.
He was thinking about his sons, Deuce (from a previous relationship) and Dylan, and his girlfriend, singer Ella Mai. The six-time All-Star explained that he wanted to use the situation to teach his kids about making difficult decisions. He wanted them to understand that everyone faces choices in life and to think carefully about which path to take.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve always said privacy is key, and it seems this celebrity couple agrees! They’ve intentionally kept the details of their five-year-plus relationship under wraps, and she recently shared why. She explained that because she didn’t publicly announce it, people are unsure how to talk about it. But she’s very clear: she’s a mom and isn’t shying away from that fact. It’s a refreshing approach – focusing on what is important, rather than getting caught up in labels or public perception.
She’s quite gifted, so I’m careful not to force her music on him. I don’t want him to feel like I was constantly pushing it on him as he gets older,” she explained to TopMob, discussing their plans for 2024. “But I do make an effort to play music around him often.

Joel Embiid, the star player for the Philadelphia 76ers, first met his future wife, Anne de Palma, at a dinner with a friend in 2018. It wasn’t love at first sight, though. As Anne de Palma told ESPN in 2021, their relationship began as a strong friendship.
They both came to the U.S. from different countries—he moved from Cameroon as a teenager to pursue basketball, and she, a Brazilian model, started working at fourteen. They quickly discovered they had two things in common: they both spoke French and enjoyed playing soccer. De Palma shared that they talked on FaceTime every day at first, but she soon realized he was someone special. “He’s just naturally encouraging and wants to help you be your best,” she explained.
In September 2020, Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model and seven-time All-Star welcomed their son, Arthur – named in honor of her younger brother who tragically passed away in a car accident in 2014. The couple later married in the Hamptons. De Palma told ESPN that the 76ers center is incredibly supportive and inspires everyone around him to be their best.

A’ja Wilson, a star player for the Las Vegas Aces and a four-time WNBA MVP (as of 2025), is a key source of support for her boyfriend, Bam Adebayo. After Adebayo, a star center for the Miami Heat, broke Kobe Bryant’s scoring record with 83 points against the Washington Wizards on March 10, 2026, he acknowledged her as an important partner in his success.
It’s really special to see her play her first game here,” said the three-time All-Star in a video posted on social media by the NBA. “Everything that goes on behind the scenes – the training, the talks we have – it’s incredibly motivating. And watching what she accomplishes is truly inspiring. I’m so grateful to have her in my life.
She also gave a heartfelt thanks to those who helped her along the way. When the University of South Carolina honored her with a jersey retirement in 2025, Wilson expressed gratitude for the love and support she’d received, saying it had shaped her into the person she was today. She was especially happy to have her closest family and friends – including a special Olympian guest – in attendance.

WNBA star Angel Reese recently said she’s decided to keep her romantic life private going forward. On her podcast, Unapologetically Angel, in January 2025, Reese explained that she won’t publicly announce a relationship until she’s married. She joked that while people might spot her on dates, she won’t be posting any pictures of a boyfriend on social media.
Rumors are swirling that WNBA star Angel Reese, nicknamed ‘Bayou Barbie,’ is dating Orlando Magic center Wendell Carter Jr. Reese hinted at the relationship on TikTok, posting a video of a large rose bouquet with the caption, “That’s a sign!” Adding fuel to the fire, Carter Jr. was spotted at the 2025 WNBA All-Star game wearing a t-shirt with Reese’s face on it.
The college champion, who will be on the second season of The Hunting Wives, showed her support by going to a Magic basketball game in December 2025. She wore a jersey with “My Man” written on it.

Model Winnie Harlow is still carefully planning her wedding to Milwaukee Bucks player Kyle Kuzma. In September 2025, she told TopMob News that they were working on finalizing details so the planning process could move forward smoothly. This was seven months after Kuzma proposed during a Valentine’s Day getaway in Turks and Caicos.
The key to my ideal date is a relaxed, tropical atmosphere,” said the former America’s Next Top Model contestant. “I love warm weather and lots of dancing – that’s just my style.”
Kyle Kuzma is sure to be a great partner both on and off the court, especially after his recent engagement. He surprised his fiancée with an 8.5-carat ring, admitting to Vogue that he didn’t ask about her preferences beforehand. Instead, he designed it based on his impression of her style – aiming for something elegant, classic, and simple.

Rapper GloRilla, who is from Memphis, was at a Grizzlies-Pelicans basketball game on Thanksgiving 2024 and was happy with something star player Brandon Ingram did during the game. When asked about it by Complex magazine in 2025, she simply said, “That’s all I’m gonna say!”
She excitedly responded with “Let’s go!” when asked about the two-time All-Star, who now plays for the Toronto Raptors. After dating for over a year, she told Complex that she prefers to keep their relationship private, explaining, “I don’t want to talk about it too much… we generally stay out of the public eye.”
Occasionally, though, she really lets loose and shows off. In an Instagram post from January 2026, she playfully wrote, “Might let him dunk on me like he dunks the basketball!”

Long before LeBron James won championships with teammates like Dwyane Wade, Kyrie Irving, and Anthony Davis, his true partner was Savannah Brinson. They were a team long before his NBA success. On their first date at an Outback Steakhouse in Akron, Ohio, Savannah, a cheerleader and softball player, never imagined the basketball star from her rival high school would become an NBA icon. As she told Harper’s Bazaar, she initially thought his fame would be limited to their hometown and wouldn’t last.
About ten years later, she married the top pick from the 2003 draft in a lavish ceremony. The event was incredibly star-studded, with Beyoncé and Jay-Z even performing their popular song, “Crazy in Love.”
Now living in a $23 million Los Angeles home with their three children – after James joined the Lakers – he shared in a November 2019 post: “I can perform at my best, both professionally and personally, because my best friend always supports me, no matter what!” He affectionately added, “I’m just the vehicle, she’s the power that drives me!”

I’ve been a huge Kawhi Leonard fan for years, and it’s amazing how good he is on defense – twice named Defensive Player of the Year! But honestly, he’s just as skilled at keeping his personal life private. I’ve followed his relationship with Kishele Shipley, who also went to San Diego State, for over a decade, and they still haven’t publicly confirmed if they’re married! It was a total surprise when, back in April 2019, we found out he missed a game because Kishele had given birth to their second child, a son named Mark. And it’s interesting – neither of them are on Instagram, so you rarely get a peek into their life!
According to his former coach, Gregg Popovich, Kawhi Leonard isn’t interested in fame. Even his daughter, Kaliyah Leonard, doesn’t seem fazed by it – when the Toronto Raptors won the championship in 2019, the four-year-old actually fell asleep during the victory parade!

It’s surprising, but NBA star Steph Curry was initially rejected when he tried to kiss his now-wife, Ayesha. Back when Steph was playing college basketball at Davidson, he went in for a kiss with Ayesha, whom he’d known from youth group, and she actually turned her head away.
She happily shared with TopMob News’ Jason Kennedy in October 2017, “We got a second chance!” A few years after their first kiss at his parents’ house in Charlotte, he proposed to her in the same spot. He later told Parents magazine it felt like a scene from the movie The Notebook.
I remember when Ayesha and Stephen found out they were expecting Riley, their first baby, a few months after getting married in 2011. She was understandably anxious! She confided in me that she worried becoming a mom would mean putting her career dreams on hold forever.
Over the past decade, Alex has expanded her family with three more children – Ryan (born in 2015), and brothers Canon (2018) and Caius (2024). She’s also built a successful lifestyle brand and now works as a cookbook author, appears on the Food Network, models, and dedicates time to philanthropy.
Please don’t refer to her as a “basketball wife.” She cleverly noted in an interview with ABC News that just like a chef wouldn’t be called “chef’s wife,” she shouldn’t be defined solely by her husband’s profession.

Bradley Beal, the Clippers guard, knows how to make a grand gesture! He proposed to his now-wife on a Ferris wheel back in 2016 while they were in Las Vegas. She shared that he took her “to the top” and asked her to be his girlfriend. Fast forward four years and two sons – Bradley Jr. and Braylon – and he recreated the moment, this time on a Ferris wheel in Maryland. In January 2020, the three-time All-Star popped the question again, asking her to become his wife.
She enthusiastically said yes! Kamiah, founder of XO By Kamiah, shared that she couldn’t imagine her life with anyone else. She and her husband welcomed their third son, Braxton, in 2022 before getting married. She also expressed gratitude for his role in helping her grow as a person and encouraging her to constantly improve.

Ayahna Cornish-Lowry, a star basketball player at St. Joe’s in the mid-2000s, is a very engaged fan. She told the Canadian website The Kit in 2019 that she likes being near the court to fully experience the game. And while she’s married to NBA player Kyle Lowry, she doesn’t only focus on watching him – she follows all the action, supporting all the players, and is a proud mom to her sons, Karter and Kameron Lowry.
She isn’t just focused on one player like Kyle; she studies the entire Philadelphia 76ers offense. She explains, “I try to watch the whole game and understand everything the team is doing – it’s fun to analyze it as a basketball fan.”
She isn’t hesitant to offer her opinion on how the six-time All-Star and Olympic gold medalist is playing. She explained that he often seeks her input, even during timeouts—they’ve been close since high school at Cardinal Dougherty in Philadelphia. She tries to subtly point out things she notices during the game, hoping he’ll understand.

Draymond Green, the Warriors’ energetic and often vocal four-time All-Star, is known for making a big impact. So, it wasn’t surprising that his January 2019 proposal to Hazel Renee was an elaborate affair. He whisked her away in a helicopter to a yacht surrounded by family, friends, and their children, Olive Jay and Draymond Jamal Green Jr. He presented her with a six-carat diamond ring from Jason of Beverly Hills, and the news was even shared with the press by Golden State coach Steve Kerr.
The couple originally planned to renew their wedding vows during a trip back to the Olympics, but had to postpone those plans due to COVID-19. Instead, they focused on another exciting event: the birth of their daughter, Cash, in October 2020.
He shared in a 2020 birthday message that their life together had been wonderful. He praised his partner for always being the strong foundation of their family, through both happy and difficult moments.
After getting married in 2022—with photos of their wedding appearing in Vogue—they welcomed their daughter, Hunni, in 2023, and another child in February 2026.

Sacramento Kings point guard Russell Westbrook enthusiastically supported his wife, Nina Westbrook, as she skillfully made shot after shot in an Instagram video from March 2020. Nina, who is now a licensed marriage and couples therapist, was a fast player at UCLA when she first noticed a talented young point guard – Russell – playfully winking at her after scoring a dunk. After the game, she playfully complimented his performance, and he reportedly responded by saying he played with extra motivation knowing he had someone special to play for.
After ten years, they continue to run their Why Not? foundation while also raising their son Noah and twin daughters Skye and Jordyn. They still make time for simple pleasures like a quiet night in with dinner and a movie. She recently shared on Father’s Day that he’ll do anything to make their children happy, calling him a fun-loving dad and the heart of their family.

It’s become something of a joke that Utah Jazz player Kevin Love might get as much attention in Sports Illustrated as Kate Bock, who has been featured in the annual Swimsuit Issue since winning Rookie of the Year in 2013. But Love isn’t jealous at all! He publicly congratulated Bock on her 2020 cover, writing that it perfectly captured her beauty and expressing how proud he was of her.
Over a year after proposing to his future wife at a January 2021 birthday party, the five-time All-Star power forward finally married her at the New York Public Library.
Kate told Vogue they imagined their wedding as a classic, black and white New York City celebration inspired by The Great Gatsby. Planning the overall theme came easily, but she said making all the little choices – like choosing linens, arranging seating, and deciding where to get ready – was the challenging part.
The couple quickly began preparing for a new chapter in their lives, welcoming their daughter James in June 2023 and later, their second daughter Leighton on Valentine’s Day in 2025.

As a huge basketball fan, I remember being absolutely floored when I saw the photos from Chris Paul and Jada Crawley’s wedding! It was a total who’s who of stars. Seriously, LeBron James was in the wedding party, along with his wife, and the guest list was insane. Dwyane Wade, Carmelo and LaLa Anthony, Gabrielle Union, Ludacris, even Kevin Hart were all there celebrating with them! And get this – Robin Thicke actually performed at the reception. It really felt like a true celebration of royalty, both on and off the court. It was an unforgettable event!
Although a performance by gospel singer BeBe Winans and a beautiful display of around 10,000 flowers were part of the event, the Thunder’s 12-time All-Star values his key teammate above all else.
From the moment I met Jada at Wake Forest, I just knew she was special. She’s been my rock through everything – the good times and the tough ones. As a basketball player, I always understood that my career wouldn’t last forever, so building a real connection with someone was key. Jada, who is an incredible philanthropist and mom to Christopher II and Camryn, and I genuinely enjoy each other’s company and making time for us is really important.

When it comes to accolades in the Horford family, it’s actually Al Horford’s wife who’s the real star. Amelia Vega is a model and singer who was crowned both Miss Dominican Republic in 2002 and Miss Universe in 2003.
Even though it took a couple of encounters – first at the Latin Pride Awards in Boston, and then four years later while collaborating on a campaign for children with cancer – the five-time All-Star, who was born in the Dominican Republic, quickly felt sure he’d met his life partner.
In a 2013 interview with Latina magazine, the Warriors player explained how he quickly realized his then-girlfriend was the one for him. He said, ‘It just felt right.’ Previously someone who often joked about love or doubted its existence, he knew he wanted to marry her because of the strong connection they shared.
After more than ten years of marriage, the University of Florida alumnus—who shares five children, Ean, Alía, Ava, Nova, and Mila, with his wife, a Miami boutique owner—says, “Married life is fantastic. We’re creating a wonderful life together.”

In 2008, while playing freshman basketball at UCLA, Portland Trailblazers guard Jrue Holiday was mistaken for his teammate, Darren Collison, by a fan at a women’s basketball game. Lauren Holiday, a soccer player at UCLA, playfully intervened, telling the fan, “Don’t worry, you’re cuter than Darren.”
Their first meeting was incredibly sweet, but what happened next was even more remarkable. After retiring from professional soccer – having won a World Cup and two Olympic gold medals – she discovered she had a brain tumor while five months pregnant. Without hesitation, her husband, an NBA player, took time off work for several months in 2016 to support her through the successful removal of the tumor.
Lauren shared a heartfelt Father’s Day message, praising her husband as a loving father to their children, Jrue and Hendricks. She wrote that he consistently demonstrates unconditional love, always being there for them through good times and bad, without ever letting it show.

Not long after finishing his college basketball career at Butler University, retired forward Gordon Hayward proposed to Robyn Hayward, a recent high school graduate, on Christmas Eve in 2013. They married the following May, and the couple—both athletes, as Robyn was a talented volleyball player in high school—have been growing their family ever since.
In September 2020, Theo joined his sisters Bernie, Charlie, and Nora while their father, Gordon, was playing basketball for the Boston Celtics in a quarantined environment.
Even though they’re managing a busy household with four young children, the couple hasn’t completely dismissed the idea of having more. In a recent social media post, she described each of their kids: Bernie is kind and mild-mannered, Charlie is independent and marches to the beat of her own drum, Nora is a fearless leader who keeps her brother Theo in line, and Theo is currently very laid-back. She shared this glimpse into their life with young children, and jokingly asked her husband, Gordon Hayward, if he’d be open to expanding the family.
