How the Dodgers Supported Alex Vesia During World Series Game

Alex Vesia’s teammates are showing love in the dugout and beyond.

During the third game of the World Series on October 27th at Dodgers Stadium, the Los Angeles Dodgers honored their star pitcher, who is currently away from the team dealing with a private family issue. His teammates showed their support by wearing his number, 51, on their blue caps.

After the game, pitcher Clayton Kershaw explained that the team had discussed wanting to do something special. “I’m still getting used to pitching out of the bullpen, but Ves is really important to all of us,” he said. “He was a key member of this team and the bullpen, and we wanted to show our appreciation for him.”

The Dodgers won a lengthy game three, lasting six hours and 18 innings, but neither the team nor Alex have provided any updates on his private situation. Before the World Series began, the Dodgers announced that Alex, who is expecting a baby with his wife Kayla Vesia, would be unable to play.

The Dodgers announced on October 23rd that pitcher Alex Vesia is currently away from the team to support his wife, Kayla, as they deal with a private family issue. The team is sending their support to the Vesia family and will share more information when available.

The next day, the Dodgers’ top executive publicly stated that the team fully supports Alex while he deals with a personal matter.

Dodgers executive Andrew Friedman explained to reporters on October 24th that they wanted to avoid any possibility of added pressure. He emphasized that the situation was far more important than the game itself, and they simply wanted to offer their full support in any way they could.

The couple got married in January 2024 and then took their first trip as husband and wife to Mexico.

Oh my gosh, you guys, they’re still going strong! I nearly screamed when I found out they marked their first anniversary with a hot air balloon ride in January 2025. It was so them – romantic and adventurous! I’m seriously living for their love story.

Kayla and Alex shared a sweet moment from their date night, showcasing Kayla’s baby bump. Alex excitedly posted on Instagram, calling the evening with his wife ‘amazing!’

Once the Dodgers secured their place in the 2025 World Series against the Toronto Blue Jays, Kayla publicly celebrated her partner with a post saying, “& NOW… ONTO THE WORLD SERIES.”
