How to Complete A Ring for Fingers in Gothic 1 Remake

In Gothic 1 Remake, players who want to join the Old Camp must complete several quests, including A Ring For Fingers. This quest requires stealing a ring from a chest belonging to the Arena Master, Scatty. However, Scatty won’t give it up easily, so players will need to skillfully pick the lock on his chest to succeed.

We figured out how to open Open Scatty’s Chest! Using the correct sequence of movements to pick the lock allowed us to get the Ring, which earned Finger’s trust and helped us meet one of the requirements for joining the Old Camp. Here’s a guide on how to do it.

How to Find and Open Scatty’s Chest in Gothic 1 Remake

To find Scatty’s Chest in the Gothic 1 Remake, head to the Arena District and search near where the gladiators train. Look for the house on top of the hill – it’s the one with a notice board and a skull marking the entrance.

It’s best to try opening the chest with a Lockpick around noon (12 PM). At that time, the area will be clear of people and guards.

Carefully enter the house, being quiet so the people inside don’t hear you. Then, open the chest. To pick the lock, use these instructions, remembering to number the rows of the lock from top to bottom – the top row is #1 and the bottom row is #5.

  2. Move #3 to the left once
  3. Move #4 to the left once
  4. Move #3 to the left three times
  5. Move #5 to the left six times
  6. Move #1 to the left once
  7. Move #4 to the left twice
  8. Move #2 to the right three times
  9. Move #1 to the right three times
  10. Move #5 to the left five times
  11. Move #3 to the left twice
  12. Move #4 to the left once
  13. Move #3 to the left once
  14. Move #2 to the right once
  15. Move #5 to the left twice

Grab Scatty’s Ring and any other valuable items from the chest, then return them to Fingers. Giving Fingers the ring will finish the quest and get you one step closer to joining The Shadows at Old Camp.
