How to Get Salt in Hytale

Salt is a common resource in Hytale, and it’s essential for cooking.

However, obtaining this item isn’t straightforward in the game. It’s not found by mining, nor is it created through any refining process.

Don’t worry! We’ll explain exactly how to get all the Salt you need.

Where to Find Salt in Hytale

You can get Salt in the game in a couple of different ways. One of the easiest is by fishing. If you’re not familiar with how fishing works, we’ve got a helpful guide for you!

To start, you can craft Fishing Traps at your Farmer’s Workbench. Simply build them, place them in water, and then wait for fish to be caught!

Okay, so once my fish traps are full, I just walk up and grab all the fish inside. And get this – sometimes, instead of fish, I randomly get a Salt Block when I check them! It’s a nice little bonus.

If you have Salt Blocks, you can easily turn them into Salt using any Chef’s Stove. It’s a simple process: each Salt Block creates 5 Salt.

If you haven’t already, you can build a Chef’s Stove at a Workbench. You’ll need 2 Copper Ingots, 5 Stones (any kind will do), and 10 Tree Trunks (any type) to craft it.

The second approach is a little easier, but it requires Essences of Life. You can mainly get these by farming. If you want to learn more, see our farming guide.

Once you’ve collected 20 or more Essences of Life, find the Forgotten Temple Gateway. This will take you to the Forgotten Temple, which serves as a central location for various activities.

Next, find the Rootling Merchant and speak with them. You can exchange Essences of Life for Salt – they’ll give you 3 Salt for every 20 Essences. Keep in mind that their stock is limited, but it refills every 3 days.

That covers everything you need to know about getting Salt in Hytale. Now it’s time to put it to use!
