Rian Johnson has successfully revitalized the classic murder mystery with his Knives Out films. His first two were incredibly fun, and his newest installment continues that winning streak, making it three fantastic movies in a row.
I’m really excited for the new Benoit Blanc mystery! Daniel Craig is fantastic as that quirky Southern detective, and it looks like he’s teamed up with another amazing group of actors this time – Josh O’Connor, Glenn Close, and Andrew Scott are just a few of the names! I can’t wait to see what kind of trouble they all get into.
This latest case is perhaps Detective Columbo’s most baffling yet. He’s called upon to investigate the seemingly impossible murder of a powerful and imposing Monsignor at a small church in upstate New York. The list of suspects includes a young priest and the Monsignor’s loyal group of followers, but the mystery isn’t just about identifying the killer – it’s also about figuring out how they committed the crime.
Similar to the previous two movies, critics are loving this one – we even gave it 4 stars and thought it might be the best so far! Like the second film, Glass Onion, this one will be released in theaters briefly before becoming available to stream on Netflix.
Read on to find out when you’ll be able to watch it from the comfort of your own home.
When is Wake Up Dead Man released on Netflix?
Get ready! The new movie will be available on Netflix starting Friday, December 12th.
The film will be available to stream just two weeks after its release in theaters on November 28th. However, it might still be showing in a few cinemas at that time, as the director, Rian Johnson, mentioned on X (formerly Twitter).
He explained that the movie could continue playing in theaters even after its release on Netflix on December 12th, as long as audiences keep showing interest – it’s ultimately up to each theater to make that decision.
Honestly, I was a little disappointed to hear Dwayne Johnson was frustrated that the movie isn’t getting a wider release in theaters. He really wanted more people to experience it on the big screen, and I get that – some films just need to be seen that way!
With its release just before Christmas, this Netflix film is sure to be a hit for relaxing movie nights during the holidays, and it’s likely to be a crowd-pleaser.
