Over the past few years, HP has been continuously enhancing and expanding its OMEN series of gaming equipment, earning it a reputation as a reliable choice for customers.
Currently, the HP OMEN family has expanded significantly. HP recently unveiled several updates to existing hardware and introduced a brand-new premium product to lead the product line.
In simpler terms, the year 2025 brings us an updated HP OMEN 35L desktop, a revamped HP OMEN 16 laptop, and the extravagant HP OMEN MAX 45L desktop. The latter is quite exceptional!
There’s some interesting stuff going on here, so let’s dive in.
Initially, there’s the brand-new HP OMEN MAX 45L, reminiscent of the HP OMEN MAX 16 (2025), which I previously reviewed. This desktop tower is designed to represent the pinnacle of what HP can provide for those who seek the highest performance levels.
The OMEN MAX 45L boasts an impressive array of top-tier hardware, including an AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D processor with 16 cores and 32 threads, a powerful NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 GPU featuring 32GB VRAM, 128GB of DDR5 RAM, and 2TB of super-fast PCIe Gen5 SSD storage. This beast is perfect for gaming, content creation, and artificial intelligence tasks.
This desktop stands out as a top-tier model not only because of its internal components but also due to several additional features. The spacious chassis can be effortlessly accessed without tools, making it simple to upgrade the standard components. It boasts a powerful motherboard that facilitates intricate overclocking of the CPU, GPU, and RAM. HP has enhanced its “CRYO CHAMBER” cooling technology, which now includes advanced 360mm liquid CPU cooling. Moreover, the power supply unit (PSU) is now fully modular with unique functions such as automatic fan cleaning.
The scale of this tower is impressive and undoubtedly costly, yet it promises top-notch and reliable performance comparable to cutting-edge gaming PCs, even rivaling the Lenovo Legion Tower 7i (Gen 10) I recently assessed. Regrettably, I found that the OMEN MAX 45L lacks the same “connect up to three wireless HyperX peripherals directly” feature as the MAX 16 laptop does.

Stepping into the world of the latest OMEN 35L desktop, let me take a moment to share some insights about the third OMEN product that HP unveiled today.
The HP OMEN 16 gaming laptop has received an update, primarily focusing on enhancing its internal components. Now, it can accommodate the latest Intel Core i9 processor and the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti graphics card.
I recently evaluated the HP OMEN 35L (2024), and I must admit, this desktop truly won me over. While it wasn’t flawless, particularly in terms of software and firmware, its sleek, compact chassis was a standout feature. Fortunately, HP has decided to maintain this design for the 2025 model. However, the OMEN 35L will now share many of the same high-end components as the OMEN MAX 45L on paper.
Due to reduced room for ventilation, cooling may not perform optimally, but many users are willing to make this trade-off. However, the standout feature of this year’s OMEN 35L is undoubtedly its new Stealth Edition.
As an enthusiast, I’d describe the OMEN 35L Stealth Edition as a gaming powerhouse tailored for esports, yet appealing to anyone seeking a subtler aesthetic. It retains all the impressive specs of its standard counterpart, but trades the transparent, RGB-illuminated casing for a more robust, entirely matte-black structure.
As an analyst, I find myself captivated by this PC that subtly defies gaming stereotypes – it’s not your typical flashy gaming rig, and that’s precisely what makes it stand out for me. In many ways, it surpasses the qualities that initially drew me to the Dell XPS Desktop (8960) we previously reviewed. I have no doubt that its understated ‘Stealth Edition’ design will be a compelling draw for many.
Additionally, HP unveiled some fresh HyperX gaming accessories, which are worth checking out. Keep an eye out as I’m currently in Los Angeles with HP, testing these new items hands-on. You can expect my first impressions to be published on Windows Central shortly.
