Since it became known that Sadie Sink was joining the cast of “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” fans have been curious about who she might be portraying. There’s been talk that Sink could be playing the telepathic mutant Jean Grey from the X-Men, but this speculation arose before Jon Bernthal as the Punisher and Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk were confirmed to appear alongside Tom Holland in “Spider-Man 4.” (Paraphrased by Mistral)
It’s been suggested that Sink might portray characters like Julia Carpenter/Spider-Woman or Angelica Jones/Firestar due to their red hair. Fans have come up with various theories, some believing Sink could be Peter Parker’s love interest, such as Carlie Cooper, Felicia Hardy/Black Cat, or the more commonly blonde Gwen Stacy. Some theories even speculate that Sink is playing Mayday Parker, the daughter of Peter and Mary Jane Watson-Parker from an alternate universe, or Teresa Parker, Peter’s long-lost sister who is a spy.
Despite filming happening right now on Glasgow’s streets in Scotland, we still haven’t figured out who Sink’s enigmatic character is. Pictures that were shared across social media on Tuesday led fans to believe they saw Sink on set, but it turned out to be a misunderstanding: apparently, the woman thought to be Sink is actually part of the film crew.

Confirmed by Hisako Film Lab, a Maui-based organization founded by director Destin Daniel Cretton (known for Shang-Chi and Spider-Man: Brand New Day), reports indicate that Sink is indeed on set. On Instagram, the official Hisako account reposted a post saying that Cretton visited the young filmmakers unexpectedly, sharing a personal message from Tom Holland and Sadie Sink while they were shooting in Glasgow.
As an ardent fan, I’m eagerly anticipating the upcoming details of “Brand New Day,” a series that Amy Pascal, our esteemed producer, has hinted will delve into the aftermath of Peter Parker’s selfless decision to relinquish his civilian identity in last year’s epic, “Spider-Man: No Way Home.” I can hardly wait to see how this significant change will unfold!
Last year, Pascal shared that the film centers around the narrative of Peter Parker deciding to abandon his identity as Peter Parker, opting instead to fully embrace Spider-Man, due to the challenges he faced in maintaining both roles. However, the specific roles of Hulk, Punisher, Michael Mando’s Scorpion, and Sink’s character within this plot are yet to be revealed.
Sony Pictures has slated Spider-Man: Brand New Day to swing into theaters on July 31, 2026.
