Currently, there’s a global frenzy about a musical, which is none other than “KPop Demon Hunters” on Netflix. A decade back, the groundwork for another film was laid that would eventually capture hearts as a beloved musical – “The Greatest Showman“.
All of the songs from The Greatest Showman were written by the songwriting team of Pasek and Paul, the duo behind everything from Dear Evan Hansen to the recent live-action Snow White. The duo recently appeared alongside star Hugh Jackman for one of his Radio City Music Hall concerts, and they posted a clip to Instagram as part of their celebration, as it’s been 10 years since starting work on the film.

The film “The Greatest Showman,” though not entirely historically accurate about P.T. Barnum’s life, gained immense popularity. Though it didn’t consistently lead the box office, its unique continuity in today’s cinema made it a long-term earner. A significant factor contributing to this was the successful soundtrack that spawned numerous chart-topping songs.
A decade since its debut, I’m still witnessing the unwavering enthusiasm for “The Greatest Showman” among film enthusiasts like myself. Upon sharing a video clip, I was greeted by a chorus of praise from fans, extolling the movie and its soundtrack. The comments were filled with expressions of love…

It’s truly remarkable that the film “The Greatest Showman” came into existence, given its challenging journey. The production faced numerous obstacles, and at a point, Hugh Jackman contemplated abandoning the project altogether. Even more astonishing is the incident where there was a fire on set, with Jackman heroically saving Zac Efron. Considering these circumstances, it feels almost miraculous that this movie came to fruition.
The movie “The Greatest Showman” eventually received sing-along showings, and just like the recently concluded “KPop Demon Hunters” demonstrated over the weekend, such screenings are clear evidence that a musical has achieved tremendous success.
It’s no secret that the acclaimed production The Great Showman sparked widespread discussions about a potential sequel due to its outstanding success. However, thus far, no sequel has materialized. Yet, a recent joint appearance of Jackman, Pasek, and Paul on stage at Radio City Music Hall might have reignited creative inspiration, perhaps paving the way for the development of a follow-up or even a fresh collaboration from this talented trio. Given the vast fanbase that would undoubtedly flock to whatever they undertake together, it’s an exciting prospect to consider!
