The creative agency based in Berlin, INSTINCT3, recently unveiled Sidekick Publishing – a comprehensive publishing service tailored for independent, ‘A’, and ‘AA’ video game development studios.
As an enthusiast, I’m thrilled about the vision of this publisher to bridge a void in the bustling publishing industry. By combining their extensive global publishing knowledge with INSTINCT3’s unique creator-driven marketing and community development skills, they are setting themselves apart in a competitive landscape.
The new venture is led by industry veterans Jasmin Oestreicher and Melvin Frank.
Jasmin Oestreicher, CEO and co-founder of INSTINCT3 and Sidekick Publishing, stated in a press release that after spending ten years in publishing and marketing, four of which at our agency, including serving as managing director since 2024, she understands the importance of experience. However, she cautions against relying too heavily on past successes, especially when dealing with an audience that is attuned to inauthentic or overly commercial content in the gaming industry. Instead, she emphasizes the significance of innovative ideas, cultural awareness tailored to specific locations, and creators who strive for lasting impact rather than immediate profit.
As a gamer, I’ve been part of Sidekick Publishing since its inception, and let me tell you, it’s been quite a journey! Over the past year, we’ve released numerous games, each one teaching us valuable lessons about what resonates with our audience, what keeps players engaged, and what stands the test of time. With Sidekick, we aim to distill all these insights, blend them with our deep-rooted understanding of creators and communities, and set a new standard for how we assist indie developers. Our objectives are straightforward: we’re committed to championing games that align with our vision, and making each subsequent release better than the last. After all, every game launch is an opportunity to level up!
Under the Sidekick Publishing label, the initial game to be launched will be “Deadly Days: Roadtrip”, a 2.5D pixel zombie apocalypse roguelike action game developed by Pixelsplit. This game is expected to hit PCs via Steam in the year 2025.
