The BBC has announced the premiere date for the next season of Interior Design Masters, hosted by Alan Carr.
The hit competition series is back for a seventh season! Michelle Ogundehin will return as the main judge, joined by different guest judges each week. They’ll be evaluating the designs of 10 up-and-coming interior designers. Tune in on Tuesday, April 21st at 8pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
The new season’s contestants haven’t been announced yet, but we know the first episode will challenge 10 designers to revamp beach huts in Dorset, each with their own unique style. Michelle Ogundehin and Jonathan Adler will be the judges, deciding who is eliminated first on ‘Stand Out Space’.
The show began in 2019, hosted by Fearne Cotton. Alan Carr joined in the second season and became a co-host.
Last year, John Cooper, a schoolteacher from Stockport, surprised everyone by winning the competition. He beat Rita Millat in a dramatic finale where both contestants renovated cottages, putting their own unique stamp on each one.

Cooper, who won the series, explained to Yahoo UK that their winning design was the result of thorough research into Portmeirion. Having visited the village several times, they understood its Mediterranean inspiration and decided to fully embrace that theme in their work. They believe this focus on the Mediterranean was key to their victory.
He felt Rita’s design was excellent, and believed his own space also strongly reflected the style of Portmeirion. He thought this combination ultimately gave him the edge.
Filming on season 8 – applications for which have now closed – is due to begin this summer.
Recently, Carr appeared on shows like The Celebrity Traitors and Last One Laughing UK. He’s also currently filming a new series following his quest to buy a castle.
