On September 12th, 2025, the first part of the “Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle” trilogy will make its way to U.S. cinemas. This installment will shine a light on Shinobu Kocho, the Insect Hashira, who has a distinct method of battling demons due to her lack of physical strength that prevents beheading them. While demons typically perish under sunlight or when decapitated by a Nichirin sword, Shinobu has developed a third way to eliminate these creatures – by employing poison derived from wisteria plants, which is lethal to them. This makes her the only one in the team with such an ability.
This remarkable accomplishment paved the way for her to ascend to the rank of Hashira. Previously, we caught a sneak peek of her abilities during the Mount Natagumo Arc. However, the Infinity Castle will present her with her toughest challenge yet, Doma, the Upper Rank Two. The eagerly anticipated clash between Shinobu and Doma is generating significant buzz, even resulting in the release of a special promotional trailer and visual to build up excitement. As reported by Mantan Web, Saori Hayami, a well-known actress in the anime world, discussed the character and how she was significantly impacted by various factors during an interview.
Demon Slayer Star Is Influenced By the Character She Is Playing

When asked about what Hayamai thinks of Shinobu, she said, “It’s hard to put into words…”
Hayami explained, “I managed to explore deeply into the essence of Shinobu’s spirit, and it feels like we’ve been traversing through time. I humbly apologize for discussing something abstract, but I believe we’ve reached this point by colliding and intertwining our souls.
Hayami clarified her take on the character by saying, ‘She sometimes taunts her fellow soldiers with sharp, somewhat sarcastic words. Yet, beneath this facade lies a fiery-hearted individual, who is fundamentally sincere and determined.’

She additionally commended the Hashira, “She possesses the resolve to confront others. To clarify, while I don’t resemble her, my actions are impacted by Shinobu’s determination when we interact, especially during our recordings.
Hayami stated that when he plays the character Shinobu, it’s as if a new opportunity arises for him. Through his interactions with her, he is affected deeply, causing an emotional response to surface.
Shinobu’s character is intricately layered, as she conceals her intense anger towards demons beneath a tranquil and friendly demeanor. Beneath her serene smile lies an unbearable sorrow and rage, which erupt during her confrontation with Doma. It was previously shown in the trailer that Doma was responsible for the death of Shinobu’s sister, Kanae Kocho.
Since her sister’s passing, Shinobu has been diligently making preparations for the day when she can seek retribution. Unlike others who participated in the Hashira Training, she chose a different path, confiding her intentions of vanquishing the demon to Kanao Tsuyuri. The Infinity Castle Arc will unveil Shinobu’s astonishing plan and the extremes she is willing to reach to achieve her goal.
