Later this year, fans of fighting games will get to see movies based on two popular franchises. At the CinemaCon event, a sneak peek was given of the first, Mortal Kombat II. A highlight for many was the first look at Karl Urban as Johnny Cage, and attendees were able to see him in action during the presentation.
At CinemaCon, Warner Bros. Discovery showed a new fight scene from the upcoming movie featuring Johnny Cage and Baraka. The scene starts with a face-off between Liu Kang and Baraka, but Johnny Cage quickly gets involved due to his boasting. The fight begins, and Cage runs into a tent full of children who all resemble Baraka. When Baraka follows him inside, the children immediately reveal Cage’s location.
Johnny Cage Takes The Spotlight In Mortal Kombat II Footage

Although Cage briefly obtains a staff, Baraka quickly destroys it with his claws. He then throws Cage right through the roof of the hut, sending the actor tumbling into another one – not exactly the start Cage was hoping for. This is when Cage starts to embody the confident persona players recognize from the games, spurred on by his teammates who remind him, “You’re an actor, so act!”
Cage retrieves his sunglasses and seems intensely focused, declaring, “It’s showtime!” The fight begins, but this time Cage is different. He skillfully avoids every one of Baraka’s attacks and manages to land some hits of his own. This leads to an incredible sequence where time seems to slow as Cage dodges each of Baraka’s strikes in succession.
Cage performs a flip, landing in a split position, allowing him to deliver a powerful punch to Baraka’s groin, winning the fight and knocking him out. Although Cage starts the movie lacking confidence, this scene demonstrates his fighting potential when he commits, and fans are eager to see what happens next when the film is released.
Mortal Kombat II lands in theaters on May 8, 2026.
