So, the buzz about Rush Hour 4 is still going strong, which is fantastic! But apparently, getting Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker back for another movie might be a bit of a financial hurdle. It sounds like negotiations on their salaries could be tricky, potentially slowing things down.
According to a report in Puck, discussions are happening between the producers of Rush Hour 4 and Paramount Pictures. However, the current proposed budget might not be sufficient to afford both Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan if they agree to return for another film.
Okay, so I’m hearing that Brett Ratner is aiming to finally get Rush Hour 4 rolling in spring or summer of 2026. A hundred million dollar budget sounds like a lot, right? But when you remember Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker each made over twenty million for Rush Hour 3, it suddenly doesn’t seem quite so huge. They’re definitely going to need to pay them well to get back on screen!
After the funding is finalized, the movie will be filmed in China, Africa, and Saudi Arabia.
Back in November, news surfaced that Paramount would distribute Rush Hour 4 after working out a deal with Warner Bros. Surprisingly, the project also got a push from Donald Trump, who reportedly encouraged Paramount owner David Ellison to move forward with it.
As a film buff, I was surprised to learn that Brett Ratner – the guy behind the Rush Hour movies – has a new documentary coming out. It’s called Melania, and it’s all about Melania Trump, the First Lady. It’s definitely a shift from action comedies, and I’m curious to see what he’s done with it.
It’s been a while since the last Rush Hour movie – Rush Hour 3 came out in 2007. Then, in 2017, director Brett Ratner was accused of sexual assault, which led Warner Bros. to stop working with him.
Jackie Chan, known for his role in Rush Hour, recently shared that he’s eager to make another Rush Hour movie. He told ScreenRant in May that he’s prepared to participate if a sequel is greenlit, though he currently has no information about any potential plans.
Jackie Chan really wants to make another Rush Hour movie. He’s feeling the pressure to start filming soon, joking that if they wait much longer, he and Chris Tucker will be too old to play their roles. He said, “Hurry up! Otherwise, Chris Tucker and I will be 100 years old. We’ll be old men doing Rush Hour!”
Shortly after the third Rush Hour movie came out, producer Roger Ratner started discussing a fourth installment. While the third film earned $258 million worldwide and brought the franchise’s total to $848 million, it was an expensive production, costing up to $180 million largely due to the high salaries of its lead actors.
Back in 2011, the director of the Rush Hour films anticipated potential financial difficulties with a fourth movie. He told Vulture that a sequel was unlikely because the combined salaries for himself, Chris Tucker, and Jackie Chan would be too expensive.
After accusations of assault in 2017, there was doubt about Brett Ratner’s future with the Rush Hour movies. However, it seems he’s still leading the action series, which has received support from Donald Trump.
