James Cameron’s Avatar Movies Are Officially Making a Major Change In 2029

The Avatar franchise has faced more challenges recently, and James Cameron is planning significant changes as a result. While he’s already discussed major behind-the-scenes adjustments for Avatar 4 and Avatar 5, he’s now also making substantial changes to the story itself.

If development of Avatar 4 stays on track—and James Cameron has a clear vision for it—viewers will immediately see a significant difference when the movie comes out in theaters on December 21, 2029.

Unlike previous films, Avatar: Fire and Ash won’t be narrated by Jake Sully (Sam Worthington). This marks the first time in the series that someone other than Jake will provide the narration. Additionally, Lo’ak (Britain Dalton), Jake and Neytiri’s son, will not be the narrator this time around.

Avatar 4 Will Break From Tradition In One Major Way

The next Avatar film will be narrated by Kiri, played by Sigourney Weaver. This is the first time someone outside of the Sully family will provide the narration.

Kate Weaver shared that she’ll be narrating the upcoming ‘Avatar 4’ film, and that Kiri’s story will be central to it.

I was absolutely fascinated to learn that Sigourney Weaver found out twelve years ago that James Cameron envisioned her character, Kiri, having a major role as a narrator in Avatar 4! It really confirms what he’s been saying all along – that he never planned Avatar as just a trilogy. He’s always thought of it as a much bigger story, an anthology that could easily continue for four, five, or even more films. It’s incredible to think he had this planned out so far in advance!

This is a developing story so check back momentarily for more info!
