James Gunn recently shared an update on the Amanda Waller TV series, which has been in the works for a while.
What did James Gunn say about the Waller TV show?
James Gunn told YouTube creator Charlie Schneider that the John Waller series is still being developed. He mentioned that writers are currently working on the scripts and that the show will explore several aspects of the character’s story.
As Gunn explained, the series will show what Waller was doing while the events of the upcoming Superman movie, Peacemaker season two, and the sequel to Superman: Man of Tomorrow were happening.
James Gunn recently shared more news about the show, following an earlier update. At the premiere of Peacemaker Season 2, he explained that while development on the Viola Davis-led Amanda Waller series has started, other projects have become more of a priority.
We’re making progress, although some aspects are moving quicker than others. Specifically, getting Viola Davis into her costume – her floral dresses – for a special performance is taking a bit longer, but I’m excited to see it happen, he explained.
Viola Davis first played the tough government agent Amanda Waller in the 2016 film Suicide Squad. She reprised the role in the 2021 movie The Suicide Squad and later provided the voice for an animated version of the character in the 2024 series Creature Commandos. She also made brief, uncredited appearances as Waller in Black Adam (2022) and the Peacemaker series.
