This Summer, DC Studios is set to debut a fresh interpretation of the iconic character, Superman, and James Gunn is gearing up to contribute to the Batman series with a new script in hand. Ever since the initial Batman film was released a few years back, fans have eagerly anticipated a sequel, with their excitement primarily centered on the mind behind it – Matt Reeves, who has been crafting a new screenplay. However, the wait has been slightly longer than expected due to Reeves’ careful approach in perfecting his work.
It’s been announced that Reeves has submitted the script for “The Batman II” following years of work, and fans are eagerly anticipating its progression. However, since the initial film’s release, DC Studios have undergone significant changes, with scripts now carrying more weight than ever before. In an interview with ComicBook, James Gunn, DC Studios co-head and “Superman” director, disclosed that he hasn’t read the script yet but intends to do so once he boards a plane tomorrow, unless the flight journey proves too tiring first.
Gunn stated, ‘I haven’t got it yet, I don’t have it yet. I am incredibly eager to read it, and I’m hoping I can read it during my flight to London tomorrow, but I might just fall asleep instead.’
What Does This Mean for The Batman II With DC Studios?
According to James Gunn’s statements to ComicBook, Gunn hasn’t had a chance to read the script for The Batman II, but he intends to soon. This makes sense given that Gunn has highlighted the significance of the new sequel for DC Studios and the crucial role scripts play in their filmmaking process. Gunn has made it clear that he won’t proceed with a project unless the script is top-notch, and he’s even scrapped a project when he felt it wasn’t ready yet.
As a movie aficionado, I’m eagerly anticipating “The Batman II,” set to hit theaters on October 1st, 2027. However, its specific place in the grand scheme of DC Studios’ future is still shrouded in mystery. Despite a couple of previous delays due to scripting issues with director and writer Matt Reeves (which Gunn wholeheartedly supports), the project seems to be gaining momentum towards this potential release date. But rest assured, there are many twists and turns ahead that fans will need to stay vigilant for in the coming years.
