James Gunn Provides Update on When Chris Pratt Will Join DC

Several actors who have worked with Marvel and DC studios, such as Ryan Reynolds, Idris Elba, J.K. Simmons, Jared Leto, and many others, have taken on roles in both companies’ productions. However, Chris Pratt is not included in this group. He portrayed Star-Lord in all the Guardians of the Galaxy films and other Marvel Cinematic Universe projects, but he hasn’t appeared in any DC movies to date, either in the current or past runs. Despite persistent speculation about his potential involvement in the DC universe, no definitive news has been announced yet.

At a press gathering for the upcoming Superman film featuring David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult, and others, ComicBook had an exclusive chat with director James Gunn about the speculation of Pratt joining the DC Universe. Previously, Gunn has addressed these rumors, but he reiterated that no decisions have been made regarding Pratt’s role in DC films. However, he mentioned that they are still searching for a suitable part for him within the universe.

Chris Pratt remains one of my dearest friends, and I’m constantly searching for opportunities for him,” Gunn stated. “Not just Chris, but also the rest. To clarify, he and Pom (Klementieff) are the ones I spend the most time with, and we’re closest to each other, along with Michael Rooker. So, I’m always on the lookout for projects that involve us all.

As a film critic, I must express my admiration for Chris Pratt’s portrayal of Star-Lord in Marvel films. Time and time again, he’s shared his affection for the role and is open to reprising it if the timing and character fit are right. Interestingly, he’s also hinted at a desire to collaborate with James Gunn on upcoming DC Universe productions.

As a devoted fan, I’ve been tossing around ideas about which DC characters Chris Pratt could potentially bring to life in the franchise. Characters like Captain Atom, Plastic Man, and Booster Gold have been popular suggestions from fellow fans. However, it seems both Gunn and Pratt are keeping their cards close to their chests when it comes to future roles. So, until they reveal more, we can only speculate and hope for a role that’s a stark contrast to Star-Lord’s persona, something truly distinct and far removed from his previous character. Until then, the excitement remains fueled by our fancasting and creative suggestions!

Gunn’s new Superman movie will head to theaters on July 11th.
