Before he moves forward with another film featuring Superman and Batman battling each other or a Justice League production, he might want to explore a pre-existing project that brings together DC Universe’s most prominent heroes instead.

The DCU Is Already Embracing the Bad Guys

If this timeline holds, Deathstroke and Bane might make their first appearance in the DC Universe as early as 2027. The Void assaults following Valentina Allegra de Fontaine’s attempt on Bob Reynolds’ life, who is also known as Sentry. The newly formed Thunderbolts arrive on the scene and strive to limit the destruction; however, they can only defeat The Void by merging with it and appealing to Bob’s humanity. This daring move succeeds but leaves one questioning why the Thunderbolts are the only heroes to intervene when New York City, and indeed the world, is at risk. Surprisingly, well-known superheroes such as Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, and Daredevil are nowhere to be found during this global crisis.

The Thunderbolts movie was a hit in the MCU, but having the final battle in New York City could lead to problems since other heroes like Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, and Daredevil were missing when the world needed them most. In this story, only the Thunderbolts step up to fight The Void, even though they have to merge with it to win – a risky move that works out but leaves us wondering why these other heroes weren’t around.

In this scenario, the DC Universe faces tough challenges as nearly every significant city hosts multiple heroes. Gotham City alone could have over a dozen vigilantes patrolling its streets, and characters like Deathstroke and Bane are likely acquainted with some of them. When Batman learns that two of his adversaries are causing trouble, he can call upon Superman and Wonder Woman for assistance. It’s highly unlikely that the combined might of these two super-soldiers will be able to escape the watchful eyes of Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman. Ultimately, the villains must recognize their defeat and acknowledge they’re now living in an era where lawlessness will no longer be tolerated.
