Jane Fonda is celebrating one of the most important people in her life.
Actress Jane Fonda recently spoke about her former husband, Ted Turner, publicly acknowledging him at an event in Atlanta on November 13th. The event, hosted by the Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Power and Potential (GCAPP), was a gala honoring youth empowerment.
Jane acknowledged her former husband, who hadn’t been present at the event and has kept a low profile since receiving a Lewy body dementia diagnosis in 2018, for his crucial role in co-founding their Georgia-based organization with her in 1995. She stated simply that, “It never would have happened without Ted.”
The Oscar-winning actress shared with the audience, as reported by People magazine, that she and her husband, Ted, went through a very difficult period. She emphasized that she wouldn’t have gotten through it without his love and support, saying they wouldn’t have survived as a couple without him by her side.
Becoming emotional, she said, “Even though Ted is gone, I feel him with me, and I know many of you do too.”
Ted Turner, the founder of CNN, and his ex-wife, Jane, started an organization that helps young people make healthy choices. According to the organization’s website, it partners with schools and youth groups to give kids the information and encouragement they need to reach their full potential.

Jane has three children: 58-year-old Mary Luana Williams, 57-year-old Vanessa Vadim (with Roger Vadim), and 52-year-old Troy Garity (with Tom Hayden). She’s recently shared a few details about her life with Ted after they separated.
Despite divorcing years ago, they’ve stayed friends—he even celebrated her 80th birthday in 2017. Jane has often spoken warmly about their relationship, explaining the reasons behind their eventual split.
She described him as both incredibly attractive and intelligent, noting he’d amassed two million acres of land by the time she ended their relationship. “It would have been simple to remain with him,” she shared in the 2018 documentary Jane Fonda in Five Acts. “But I felt a strong inner voice—almost too quiet to hear—telling me that staying wouldn’t allow me to be true to myself.”
Jane and Ted aren’t the only exes who’ve become friends. Here are some other celebrity couples who managed to stay friendly after their breakup…

There’s absolutely no chance they’ll get back together. However, with all the recent interactions – birthday celebrations, affectionate hugs, and even recreating a romantic scene in a virtual performance of Fast Times at Ridgemont High – it feels like they’re just teasing everyone who hoped they’d reconcile.

Sarah proved she’s incredibly confident – and maybe a little mischievous – when she appeared on her ex-husband Jimmy’s talk show. She was there to promote her new series, I Love You, America, and playfully teased Jimmy about his wife, Molly Kimmel, describing her as “cute,” “bright,” and “funny.” Jokingly, Sarah complained, “It’s not fair! She got the updated, more aware Jimmy. I just had the Man Show Jimmy.”

Honestly, some people seemed more upset about this relationship ending than the people who were actually in it. When Anna—who is now married to Michael Barrett—found out Chris Pratt was getting married to Katherine Schwarzenegger in 2019, she volunteered to perform the ceremony. She even sent a gift when their daughter, Lyla, was born in August 2020. A source told TopMob News that Anna was “very supportive” and happy for her son, Jack, to have a little sister.

Their breakup could have easily led to disaster, but four years later, these HGTV stars are thriving. They’re successfully co-parenting their children, Taylor and Brayden, and continuing to renovate fixer-uppers into beautiful homes for others.

Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet, who divorced but remain incredibly close – he called them “best friends” in a 2013 interview with Oprah Winfrey – still feel like family. Describing his relationship with his ex-wife, who later married and then split from Jason Momoa in 2020, Lenny said they’ve created a “one big happy family” and that it’s a wonderful example of how things can work out.

Since announcing their split in 2020, the co-host of Dancing With the Stars and her former hockey player husband have consistently shown they remain friendly with each other.
When Brooks announced he was getting engaged to Katrín Tanja Davíðsdóttir in December 2024, Julianne publicly shared her excitement. She posted on Instagram, wishing the couple a lifetime of happiness, fun, and adventures as they begin their new life together.
You know, life throws you curveballs, but I’m a firm believer in choosing happiness and healthy co-parenting. So, it was really lovely to spend a day at the lake with my ex-husband, his now-fiancée who’s expecting, and our little one. I even shared a photo – it was just a sweet moment with those three cuties, and I wanted to capture it!

Since splitting up in 2015, the parents of Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel have successfully co-parented, managing to take family vacations together, celebrate holidays as a unit, and publicly support each other. In a 2016 interview with TopMob News, Ben even praised his ex-partner as “an amazing mother.”

Okay, so Nina and Ian broke up back in 2013, which was devastating, but honestly, I always held out hope they’d get back together. It’s a little weird, but they stayed friends, which is…fine, I guess. Then, in 2014, Ian started dating Nikki Reed – Nikki Reed! – and they got married so quickly! Of course, Nina became friends with her too, which just…it’s a lot to process, honestly. I mean, I’m happy for everyone, but still…

I was so sad when I heard about Lady Gaga and Taylor Kinney breaking up back in July 2016 – they really seemed like a perfect match after five years together! But I was relieved to hear her talk about it on Howard Stern a few months later. She said they were still incredibly close, and that Taylor was more than just an ex; he’s someone she considers a longtime lover and a true friend. It was nice to know they ended things on good terms and still cared for each other so much.
“We love each other,” she said. “That’s it.”

Even years after The Office ended in 2013, the chemistry between the characters continues to resonate with fans, and Mindy Kaling understands why people still hope they’d get together. In a 2019 interview with Good Housekeeping, she admitted that if she were a viewer, she’d feel the same way. However, she explained that her co-star, B.J. Novak, is now more like family than just a friend, which is why she chose him to be a godfather to her children.

Oh my gosh, Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson are actually amazing when it comes to their son, Bronx! Even after their divorce way back in 2011, they totally work together as parents. Pete’s even gone on record saying Ashlee is just a fantastic mom, and honestly, it’s so good to see! They really prioritize Bronx, and it makes me so happy for all of them.

It sounds like she’s moved on from her past relationship with the musician from the Jonas Brothers. He’s stated they’re currently on good terms and remain friendly, describing their connection as a positive one.

Jennifer and her Dexter co-star first connected on the set of the show in 2006, and their relationship became romantic two years later. Even after their divorce in 2011, Jennifer later shared that they maintained a loving and respectful relationship.

Bruce Willis and Demi Moore are famous for having a friendly relationship even after their divorce, and their daughters – Rumer, Tallulah, and Scout – have helped maintain that bond. It’s no surprise they decided to quarantine together in Idaho when the pandemic hit – maybe even having a dance party or two!

Even four years after their 2014 divorce, Jennifer Lopez still spoke highly of her ex-husband, and the father of her twins, Max and Emme. In a 2018 interview on Sunday Today, she explained that Marc Anthony had been a significant source of encouragement during their marriage. He helped build her confidence, recognizing her insecurities and constantly reminding her of her talent. ‘You’re a great singer. Don’t ever let anybody tell you you’re not,’ he would say, and Lopez deeply respected him, considering him one of the greatest singers ever.

Despite any personal struggles he might be facing, the actress will always support her ex-husband and former Scream colleague. Eight years after their 2010 divorce, she mentioned on Running Wild With Bear Grylls that it was a relatively amicable split. She added that they’ve successfully co-parented their daughter, Coco, together.

Although their relationship ended in 2007, they still had great chemistry on screen when they starred together in the 2011 film Bad Teacher.

Although their 2013 breakup was difficult at first, the actors have reached a point where they can vacation together as a group. The actor shared with LaPalme Magazine that he enjoys a good relationship with his ex-wife’s husband, and he considers him a great person. He mentioned a 2017 trip to Cancun where they all traveled with their families, including Garth, Dave Abrams, Peter’s fiancée Lily Anne Harrison, and their daughters Luca, Lola, and Fiona. He also explained that relationships evolve, and just because he and his ex-wife aren’t together anymore doesn’t mean they can’t still care for each other. He believes people enter your life for a reason, even if the nature of the relationship changes over time.

Even though they unexpectedly separated in September 2012, the couple worked hard to appear supportive of each other for the sake of their children. In a 2014 interview with Howard Stern, she explained that she and Will remained close friends and were successfully co-parenting. She didn’t view their ten-year marriage as a failure, believing that all relationships face challenges.

The Grammy-winning artist and her ex-husband, who officially divorced in January 2024, have maintained a friendly relationship while raising their son, Hayes. They even live only five minutes away from each other, making it easy to share parenting responsibilities.
