Jane Fonda’s Granddaughter Details What She’s Learned From Actress

They say experience is the mother of wisdom. 

If you’re looking for someone who truly embraces life, look no further than Jane Fonda. That’s why her granddaughter, Viva Vadim, is inspired by her example.

Viva expressed her admiration for her mother, Vanessa Vadim (Jane Fonda’s eldest daughter from her marriage to Roger Vadim), stating she aspires to be as brave and committed to her principles. Speaking at the premiere of Jane’s documentary Gaslit on June 12th, Viva told TopMob News that having her mother as a role model has been incredible, and she was particularly inspired to see her standing with other dedicated activists, emphasizing the importance of listening to their voices.

She added, “I’m so impressed by her commitment to giving a platform to people whose stories often aren’t told.”

Viva has learned so much from her grandmother over the years that it’s difficult to identify a single, most important piece of advice.

She admitted she didn’t know how to begin, explaining that she was deeply inspired by this woman’s positive attitude. She felt her generation often leaned towards hopelessness, but this woman consistently encouraged her to avoid that mindset. She realized she tended to be rigid in her beliefs, and this woman always gently encouraged her to be more flexible and find common ground.

Viva shared that the Academy Award-winning actress always maintains a positive outlook, even during difficult times. She explained that she’s continually inspired by this quality and tries to adopt it herself.

Jane explained what motivates her to continue advocating for important issues.

The actress, known for Grace and Frankie, explained that many Americans are struggling right now. Recognizing her own privilege as a famous white woman, she feels compelled to help in any way she can. She added that contributing makes her feel better emotionally, prevents depression, and allows her to live without regrets.

And she’s still pinching herself that she’s been given so much time to do this work.

The 88-year-old joked that she always expected to die young, around age 30. She says she’s surprised to have lived this long and feels grateful every day. Each morning, she wakes up thankful to still be alive and in good health.
