Jennifer Lopez is getting loud about her love for Off Campus.
The singer was overjoyed that her song, “On the Floor” featuring Pitbull, was included in the popular dance scene between Allie Hayes (Mika Abdalla) and Dean Di Laurentis (Stephen Kalyn) on the new Prime Video series, and she couldn’t resist sharing her excitement.
Jennifer told Variety at the Los Angeles premiere of Off Romance on May 26th that she thought the show was adorable and that she loved it. She was thrilled they used one of her songs, which surprisingly went back into the charts after 15 years! She noted how much the music industry has changed.
The 56-year-old woman loved the hockey-themed romance, which was based on a book series by Elle Kennedy, so much that she asked someone named Mika to help her film a recreation of a scene from the story.
She added, “We decided to do this TikTok together and that went viral. It was really fun.”
The song by Pitbull (whose real name is Armando Pérez) and Jennifer plays a key role in the developing relationship between Allie and Dean. According to creator Louisa Levy, their romance will be the central focus of the show’s second season. The two Briar University students first met at a Halloween party.
Dean notices a girl wearing a copy of Jennifer Lopez’s famous green Versace dress and asks Beau Maxwell (Khobe Clarke) who she is. Beau responds with a vague, “I don’t know her, but I think that’s JLo.”
Hockey player John Tucker, also known as Jalen Thomas Brooks, suggests they play “On the Floor.” Allie loves the new song choice, and Dean, who’s dressed as Maverick from Top Gun, playfully jabs at Tucker, saying, “Looks like you’re doing just fine with assists!”

Allie, a friend of Hannah Wells (Ella Bright), was still dating Sean McCall (Riley Davis) on and off. Despite Dean initially placing his hands on her hips, it was obvious their dance would be without any physical contact.
Despite that, Allie and Dean shared a heated dance before Allie—the central romantic interest in the third book, The Score—left Dean playfully embarrassed at the party.
Viewers saw a glimpse of the connection between Allie and Dean in the first season, and Mika is now excited to explore their relationship more fully.

She recently told Us Weekly that she’s excited to explore the characters of Allie and Dean in more detail. Both characters initially seem to present a carefully constructed image to the world, making them seem predictable. However, the books reveal hidden depths and complexities beneath those surface appearances for both Allie and Dean.
I’m really looking forward to exploring the characters’ feelings more deeply when the new season starts,” Mika explained. “In the first season, we mostly see Allie and Dean presenting a certain image to the world.

This movie is based on Ali Hazelwood’s popular 2021 novel. Starring Lili Reinhart and Tom Bateman, it’s a fake dating romance that became a huge hit on TikTok (#BookTok). What makes this adaptation particularly interesting is the connection to its origins: the story started as fanfiction inspired by Star Wars characters Rey and Kylo Ren, and Tom Bateman is married to Daisy Ridley, who played Rey! We’re definitely intrigued to see how this all plays out on screen. The premiere date is yet to be announced.
