I was so thrilled when Jensen Ackles showed up in Season 3 – he totally blew me away! And the best part? He’s coming back for the fifth and final season! But it doesn’t stop there – he’s also going to be the lead in a prequel spinoff called Vought Rising, which I’m already counting down the days for.
So, I was chatting with Jensen Ackles recently, just before The Boys is back on our screens, and he gave me an update on the Vought Rising spin-off. While there’s no firm release date yet, Ackles let slip that the show isn’t just a one-off – they’re already planning multiple seasons! Sounds like Vought International’s history is going to get a pretty deep dive, and it’s not going anywhere quickly.
Vought Rising Could Go On
The hit show The Boys will conclude with its fifth season, as the creators feel it’s best to end the series while it’s still strong. Meanwhile, Gen V has already aired two seasons. Unlike those shows, Vought Rising isn’t planned as a one-time limited series, and actor Jensen Ackles has said the producers discussed the possibility of several seasons.
Ackles confirmed the show is planned to have multiple seasons. He explained that the idea was originally presented as a prequel set in the 1950s, focusing on the character Soldier Boy.
Ackles shared his excitement about the series, recalling that he immediately agreed to participate. He remembered not even letting the producers finish explaining the opportunity before saying yes, because he understood they planned for the show to run for multiple seasons.
He hinted at the show’s style, saying it will largely feel like the original The Boys. The prequel will build on what made the first series successful, but with a fresh take – it’s set in the 1950s and will have a period feel.
Jared Padalecki joked that the character he plays, Soldier Boy, is a bit of a throwback. He described Soldier Boy as someone from a different era trying to navigate the modern world, making him feel completely out of place.
As a huge fan, I’m so excited to hear more about the Supernatural prequel! The actor playing Soldier Boy said it’s going to show us what made him, well, him. He’ll be in his prime, truly the most powerful guy around, but we’ll also get to see the events that shaped him into the person he becomes. It’s going to be amazing to finally understand his backstory and see how everything unfolded.
The Boys Universe Keeps Growing
Although the main Boys series is planned to have a big finale, Prime Video isn’t abandoning the franchise altogether. The future of Gen V is uncertain, as its continuation depends on both the success of the show and what happens in Season 5 of The Boys. However, the show’s creator, Eric Kripke, is optimistic.
While The Boys is currently on hold, a new spinoff series is in the works called The Boys: Mexico. It will feature Gael García Bernal and be written by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer.
The Boys returns for Season 5 on Apr. 8.
