Though Season 5 of The Boys is set to air this spring, the show’s universe will continue to expand on Prime Video. A prequel focusing on Soldier Boy is planned to have multiple seasons. The Boys has already successfully branched out with the Gen V spinoff (which has two seasons) and the animated series The Boys Presents: Diabolical. Even more additions are on the way, including The Boys: Mexico and Vought Rising. Vought Rising will be a prequel set in the 1950s, following Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles) and Stormfront (Aya Cash), two of The Boys‘ most compelling villains, offering a lot of exciting possibilities for the future of the franchise.
Although Vought Rising was initially called a “twisted murder mystery,” the show will actually explore Jensen Ackles’ character and the backstory of Vought International in more detail. This gives the series a lot of potential for development over several seasons. Luckily, it sounds like the creators have the time they need to fully flesh out the story. Ackles recently told Collider that multiple seasons are planned.
I’m really excited about the future of the show! When they first told me about potentially doing a prequel, going back to the 1950s and focusing on Soldier Boy, I immediately said yes – I couldn’t even let them finish explaining! It’s definitely their plan to keep the story going for multiple seasons, and I think that’s fantastic.
Fans have a lot to look forward to as the show delves deeper into Soldier Boy’s past and his old team, Payback. According to Jensen Ackles, we’ll see how Soldier Boy became who he is and understand his motivations. While it can be challenging to make a villain a compelling character, Soldier Boy seems well-equipped to handle it within the world of The Boys. The fact that the show is planned for multiple seasons is fantastic news for viewers.
Jensen Ackles’ Update Is Promising News for the Future of The Boys Franchise

Jared Padalecki confirming future plans for The Boys universe is great news, indicating Amazon intends to continue making superhero content even after Season 5. With the upcoming episodes expected to be particularly deadly, it’s uncertain who will be left for potential sequels, though the The Boys: Mexico series, set after the main show, shows there are possibilities. Showrunner Eric Kripke has also hinted at a third season of Gen V, and now it’s clear he has more stories planned within the Vought Rising world. Overall, the future of The Boys franchise looks promising, even if the original characters don’t make it to the end.
