Jodie Comer will star in a new, limited-run series for HBO, created by Damon Lindelof, who also co-created the show Lost. The series is based on the popular novel The Chain by Adrian McKinty.
The award-winning actress, famous for her work on Killing Eve and the recent film 28 Years Later, will play Rachel, a mother whose life is shattered when her daughter is kidnapped, in a new thriller.
The series will follow Rachel as she is forced to “consider the unthinkable” after the kidnapping.
The story revolves around a horrifying system called “The Chain,” where parents are compelled to kidnap a child to get their own child back.
Damon Lindelof, known for his work on critically acclaimed shows like Lost, The Leftovers, and Watchmen, will be the writer, executive producer, and showrunner for the new HBO series.

Lindelof, Carly Wray, and Breannah Gibson created the initial story, and Lindelof and Wray then wrote the screenplay.
Jodie Comer is taking on another significant television part, building on the success of her role as Villanelle in Killing Eve. That performance won her both an Emmy and a BAFTA award.
Since then, she’s worked across stage, film, and television, earning praise for her play Prima Facie and appearing in films like The Last Duel, Free Guy, and the sequel 28 Years Later.
I first stumbled upon The Chain back in 2019, and it really took off – it became a huge hit for author Adrian McKinty almost immediately. The idea behind it – a really clever, unique premise – grabbed everyone’s attention, not just readers like me, but also people in the film industry. It was clear pretty quickly it had serious potential beyond the page.
Further casting and release details for the HBO limited series have yet to be confirmed.
