In the fresh Doctor Who audio series, Jodie Whittaker finds a distinct change in her portrayal of the Thirteenth Doctor.

In 2018 through 2022, the actress who made history by becoming the first female Doctor on the show, portrayed the time-traveling character. During this period, the episodes she starred in were overseen by the show’s then-leader, Chris Chibnall.

Discussing the main difficulty in converting her act into an audio format, Whittaker stated: “I talk extremely fast, and since films are edited, you can stumble on a word but they’ll catch it from another angle. However, in audio, there’s no editing to save you.

It dawned on me that since my voice is everything, I noticed quite a few instances where I’ve mispronounced words or stumbled over sounds.

With a laugh shared with her fellow actor Mandip Gill (Yazmin Khan), she commented to Big Finish, “In my initial episode, I rushed the Doctor’s character, and I’ve regretted that decision ever since!

Apart from her latest work with Big Finish, Whittaker has made a comeback to portray the Doctor on-screen, appearing in Ncuti Gatwa’s last episode titled “The Reality War.

Over there, she engaged in a short conversation with the 15th Doctor portrayed by Mandip Gill, who clearly pointed out a significant shift in personality between the two versions of the Time Lord they were playing.

In an interview for Doctor Who Magazine, showrunner Russell T Davies expressed his joy about Jodie Whittaker’s comeback, stating, “Working with the fantastic and powerful Jodie was a significant pleasure.

Since the Doctor transformed into David Tennant’s Fourteenth Incarnation, it seemed fitting that Jodie Whittaker and Ncuti Gatwa should share a moment together – an unusual thought, as if one had changed into the other, they would have never crossed paths!

He went on to say: “However, you can understand my point. Essentially, there was something unconnected between the two of them that this particular event managed to connect.
