As a fanatic who can’t contain their excitement, I’m thrilled to share that Shout! Studios has unveiled the official trailer for my long-awaited favorite, the upcoming sword and sorcery remake titled “Deathstalker.” This cinematic masterpiece is inspired by the iconic 1983 movie of the same name. After making its dazzling world premiere at the 78th Locarno Film Festival, the film is now set to storm our screens on October 10, 2025!

What is Deathstalker about?
In the movie Deathstalker, I find myself in the Kingdom of Abraxeon, a place currently under attack by the ominous Dreadites – followers of the ancient sorcerer Nekromemnon who’s long since passed. My journey begins when I stumble upon a cursed amulet amidst a battlefield filled with fallen warriors. This artifact marks me with dark magic, making me a target for monstrous assassins. To keep living, I must unravel the curse and confront the rising darkness. Death, it seems, is merely the prelude to an epic adventure!
As a devoted admirer, I’m thrilled to share that the reimagining of this epic is penned and steered by the talented Steven Kostanski, whose works include “The Void” and “PG: Psycho Goreman”. This time around, we have Daniel Bernhardt from “John Wick” and “Nobody 2” stepping into the role of our main character, Deathstalker, with Patton Oswalt lending his voice to the kindly wizard Doodad in this production. Joining them on the journey are Christina Orjalo, Paul Lazenby, Nina Bergman, Jon Ambrose, Matthew Ninaber, Conor Sweeney, and other gifted artists.
Deathstalker showcases heroic battles, where dashing protagonists confront hordes of human, beastly, and supernatural adversaries. The movie’s soundtrack is provided by Blitz//Berlin, featuring an original song by Slash and Bear McCreary. Additionally, the creative team includes editor Robert Hyland and cinematographer Andrew Appelle. This modern retelling of Roger Corman’s legendary sword and sorcery film franchise is produced by Avi Federgreen, Michael Paszt, and Pasha Patriki. Guns N’ Roses member Slash takes on an executive producer role in the project.
