Please be aware that this article contains spoilers from the Jujutsu Kaisen and Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo manga! The Jujutsu Kaisen manga shocked fans when it killed off Satoru Gojo, a hugely popular character. During the Shibuya Incident Arc, Gojo was trapped inside the impenetrable Prison Realm. Fortunately, his students managed to bring him back during the Culling Game Arc. After being absent from the story for years, the most powerful sorcerer of his time returned to defeat Kenjaku, an ancient curse user who had taken over the body of Gojo’s friend, Suguru Geto. But just as Gojo was about to finish the fight, Ryomen Sukuna intervened and challenged him to a duel.
Even though it ended tragically, the fight between the series’ strongest characters is considered the most exciting duel in recent Shonen manga. While fans were initially upset by the character’s death, the sequel manga, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, showed how his influence continued almost seventy years later. This sequel, created by Gege Akutami and Yuji Iwasaki, takes place sixty-eight years after the Culling Game, in a drastically changed Jujutsu world. Though not perfect, the world is now closer to what the fallen character envisioned.
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Subtly Carries on Gojo’s Legacy

From the very start, Gojo aimed to fundamentally change the world of Jujutsu. During high school, he realized the real problem wasn’t curses, but the leaders of Jujutsu Tech and the powerful clans who were determined to stay in control, no matter the cost. Knowing a fight with Sukuna could be fatal, Gojo eliminated the elders, hoping his students would inherit a brighter future.
Even though Gojo and his students didn’t achieve all their goals, their efforts to improve the Jujutsu world weren’t wasted. Powerful families are less likely to mistreat those with fewer resources, and helpful techniques like Simple Domain are now more widespread, allowing more people to grow stronger. Most importantly, the Jujutsu world is now much more collaborative than it used to be.
Even Cross pointed out that sorcerers like Yuka and Tsurugi Okkotsu see helping people as a natural part of life, not a heavy responsibility. These sorcerers now have more freedom to decide their own futures, unlike in the past when the older generation controlled everything. If Gojo hadn’t become incredibly powerful and eliminated the elders, and if his students hadn’t continued his work, the Jujutsu world would still be a destructive place, ruining talented sorcerers like Gojo and Suguru Geto.
