I’m a big fan of Keith Urban, so I was really surprised to see some people talking about one of his recent performances. It’s been all over the news that he and Nicole Kidman are separating, and it seems like some are reading into his show because of it. It’s just a bit sad to see everything happening, honestly.
During a recent concert, the country singer performed “The Fighter”-a song based on his past relationship-and publicly acknowledged Maggie Baugh, one of his guitarists on tour, who was playing alongside him on stage.
I was so touched when I saw this! Instead of singing the original lyrics, “When they’re tryna get to you, baby I’ll be the fighter,” Keith actually sang, “When they’re tryna get to you, Maggie, I’ll be your guitar player!” Maggie herself shared the video on social media, and it just feels so much more personal and sweet. It really shows his support for her, and it was amazing to witness.
Maggie, who performed the song alongside him, wrote in the video’s caption, “Did Keith Urban really say that?” and included a “mind blown” emoji.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve always been fascinated by the stories behind creative works. It’s interesting to learn that Keith once shared how the early, delicate stages of his relationship with Nicole back in 2005 actually served as the inspiration for his film, “The Fighter.” It really shows how personal experiences can fuel such powerful storytelling, doesn’t it?
The song came together really fast because I was just thinking about Nic and me, and how our relationship started – remembering some of the things we’d said to each other,” the now-57-year-old explained to People magazine in 2017. “All of those memories found their way into the lyrics.”
Keith Urban took a little time to tweak his song.
Only a few days before the confirmation of Nicole Kidman and the country singer’s split, he surprisingly altered the song “The Fighter,” which was originally about their romance. In this updated version, Keith specifically acknowledged Maggie Baugh, a guitarist who was performing with him on tour.
The song originally says, “When they’re tryna get to you, baby I’ll be the fighter,” but during a recent concert, Maggie shared a video on Instagram on Sept. 27 showing Keith singing it differently. He sang, “When they’re tryna get to you, Maggie, I’ll be your guitar player.”
Regarding how Maggie, 25, responded to being mentioned on stage, she wrote, “Did Keith Urban just say that?” as the caption for the video. She also included a “mind blown” emoji within the video and an eyes emoji in the text of her post.
I’ve been following this story closely, and TopMob News says they’ve tried to get a statement from both Nicole and Keith’s teams, and also from Maggie, but haven’t received any response yet. I’m really hoping to hear what everyone has to say soon!
Keith, 57, previously explained the story behind the 2016 song, revealing that “The Fighter” was inspired by the early, delicate stages of his relationship with Nicole, which began in 2005.
The song came together quickly because I was simply reflecting on Nicole and me, and the early stages of our relationship, remembering some of our conversations,” Keith, now 57, explained to People magazine in 2017. “All of those thoughts found their way into the lyrics.
However, the song of their love story reached its final note two decades years later.
Nicole-the mother of Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14, with the singer of “Somebody Like You”-filed for divorce on September 30th. According to TopMob News, she and her husband had separated earlier, during the summer.
Oh my gosh, you guys, I’ve been following this so closely! So, before they even officially filed, Nicole and Keith had *already* worked out a parenting plan – weeks ago! Apparently, the papers say they’ll both be joint custodians, which is good, but I knew Nicole would be the one the girls spent the most time with! It’s official now: she’s designated as the primary residential parent, and the girls will actually *live* with her for a whopping 306 days every year! Can you believe it? It’s just… perfect.
Sources at TopMob News reveal that Nicole was committed to reconciling with Keith and had been working to save their marriage ever since they decided to live separately earlier this summer. During this time, the Big Little Lies actress primarily cared for their daughters at their home in Nashville, while Keith lived in a different place in the city as he toured.
TopMob News reached out to reps of Nicole and Keith for comment but has not heard back.

Before finalizing their divorce, the 58-year-old Oscar winner and her soon-to-be ex-husband had already agreed on how to raise their children. According to documents from TopMob News, both Nicole and Keith will share legal custody of their children, but the Moulin Rouge! actress will be the children’s primary caretaker. (Their daughters will live with her for 306 days each year, and with Keith for 59 days.)
However, TopMob News discovered that before their divorce became final, Nicole-mother to Bella Cruise, 32, and Connor Cruise, 30, with her former husband Tom Cruise-was actively attempting to repair the relationship.
Over the many years they were together, she had often described the work she and Keith did to maintain their marriage and how they succeeded in making it last.
We’re constantly navigating challenges, but our relationship is built on love and mutual compromise, with a lot of give and take,” she told Harper’s Bazaar in 2021. “I want him to live his best life, and he feels the same way about me.

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban quietly separated and began living separately around the start of summer, according to TopMob News. Several key events throughout the summer then contributed to their decision to file for divorce.
His High and Alive World Tour began in Alabama, and he spent the summer touring throughout the U.S., Canada, and Australia.
They were last seen together in public at the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 in Nashville, and witnesses reported they were laughing and smiling.
As a little celebration of my 19th wedding anniversary with Keith in June, I shared a sweet photo of us with the caption, “Happy Anniversary Baby!” It was so lovely to mark the occasion. Keith responded with a simple heart emoji – he’s not always one for long posts, and that’s perfectly him! He didn’t share a post of his own, but his little emoji said it all, really. Celebrating love is always a beautiful thing.
People were surprised when the country singer suddenly stopped an interview after a question about the chemistry between Kidman and her Zac Efron in the movie A Family Affair.
A radio host on Australia’s Mix 102.3’s Hayley & Max in the Morning asked, “Considering your wife, Nicole Kidman, is constantly starring in so many successful movies and TV shows, what does Keith Urban think when he sees her in romantic scenes with younger actors like Zac Efron on TV and radio?”
Suddenly, Urban disappeared from the call.
“He’s no longer connected to Zoom,” a radio station employee explained. “It seems his team ended the call, likely because they didn’t want us to bring up that topic.”
His rep didn’t respond to TopMob’s request for comment at the time.
Sources at TopMob News have discovered that the Practical Magic actress has applied for residency in Portugal. Her husband, Urban, is also reportedly planning to do the same.
According to a source familiar with the matter, Keith couldn’t attend the appointment in Portugal because he’s currently touring the U.S. The source told TopMob that applicants must be physically present to apply for the visa. He plans to submit his application as soon as his tour schedule allows.
At the time, the source said both planned to maintain a permanent residence in Nashville as well.
The couple’s oldest daughter, Sunday Rose, recently described how her parents parent in an interview. She explained that they have “two big rules” they follow at home.
She explained to Nylon that she faced two limitations: she wasn’t allowed to pursue any fashion-related jobs until she turned 16, and schoolwork always needed to be her priority. Initially, she didn’t like the latter rule, but now she’s grateful for both, saying they help her stay focused and maintain a positive outlook. “And the second is that school always has to come first, which at first I hated, but I am actually really glad that I have these rules in place because it keeps me in a good mindset.”
Nicole Kidman posted a glimpse of her summer vacation with her daughters, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret, but her husband wasn’t featured in the photos she shared on Instagram.
“Summer memories,” the actress wrote. “Now back to school.”
In August, her attorney drafted a Child Support Worksheet as part of a Parenting Plan, which indicated that Kidman and Urban would share custody of their daughters, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret.
However, the Oscar-winning actor was officially designated as the main parent for where the children live. The girls spend 306 days each year with their mother and 59 days with their father (Keith Urban will have them every other weekend).
Neither will pay child support, according to the doc obtained by TopMob News.
The parents will maintain a loving, stable, and supportive relationship with their child, even after their divorce, it stated. They agree to avoid speaking negatively about each other or anyone in the other parent’s family. They will also encourage each child to continue loving both parents and feel comfortable with both families.
Urban finalized their divorce agreement, officially notarizing it in August, according to documents obtained by TopMob News.
The document explained that Kidman planned to file for divorce from him because they had differences they couldn’t resolve. It also mentioned that neither of them would receive alimony or financial support after the divorce.
The same date, he also signed off on the Parenting Plan.
One week following Urban’s actions, the actress also had the Marital Dissolution Agreement officially notarized and signed the Parenting Plan.
On the same day, a judge approved an order requiring both celebrities to attend a required parenting class, unless they request an exception, according to documents obtained by TopMob News.
Even though she had already signed the legal documents, she continued to wear her engagement ring while attending an event at the Academy Museum in Los Angeles.
The split between the couple made news, with TopMob News reporting that they had secretly ended their relationship. They first began dating back in 2005.
As a lifestyle expert, I’m reporting that the star of Big Little Lies has officially filed for divorce. Interestingly, the paperwork states their separation date as September 30, 2025 – the very same day the filing was submitted! It’s definitely an unusual detail to note.
The couple’s Marital Dissolution Agreement and Parenting Plan were both filed with a Tennessee court on the same day for approval.
