A recent report suggests Kevin Feige, the head of Marvel Studios, has made a key adjustment to guarantee the success of the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars films. Feige has been a driving force behind the Marvel Cinematic Universe since 2008, overseeing every project – from initial approval to final decisions – and carefully weaving together the storylines that connect them all. He’s arguably one of the busiest people in Hollywood.
He’s been incredibly busy lately, overseeing all of the franchise’s movies and streaming shows, and even briefly considering a Star Wars project. But recently, he’s put most of that aside to concentrate on the next two Avengers films.
Marvel’s Kevin Feige has been completely dedicated to developing the Doomsday and Secret Wars projects for roughly the past year, according to Deadline’s Justin Kroll, who discussed this on the My Mom’s Basement podcast.
According to Kroll, Marvel executive Kevin Feige has been incredibly busy lately. However, he’s made changes to his approach in preparation for the upcoming two Avengers movies.
Honestly, it feels like Kevin Feige has been completely swamped lately – juggling all the Disney+ shows and potentially even a Star Wars project. For the past year, it’s been all about ‘Doomsday’ and ‘Secret Wars’ for him, and nothing else. Those two movies have really been his sole focus, period.
Kroll continued, “If that dude has his mind set on just the one thing…they turn out good:”
He’s really dedicated to this project, and spends most of his time in London working on it. When he concentrates on a single effort, like he did with films like Iron Man and Thor, the results are usually excellent. It’s when he tries to juggle too many things at once that things become more challenging.
Currently, Avengers: Doomsday is being finalized with editing and visual effects. Filming for some extra scenes is expected to begin early this year.
The Russo Brothers’ latest film introduces a massive new challenge for the superhero team: a threat that spans the multiverse. They’ll face off against the formidable Doctor Doom (played by Robert Downey Jr.), who aims to take over their world. But they won’t have to fight alone, as other superhero teams from different realities will join Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. The film, Doomsday, hits theaters on December 18th.
Why Feige’s Focus Matters for Avengers?

It’s safe to say the last five or so years haven’t been Marvel Studios’ strongest. After the huge success of Avengers: Endgame, the franchise has faced some challenges. There have been critically panned movies and TV shows, and some films haven’t performed well at the box office – something that seemed unlikely before 2019.
As a huge Marvel fan, I’m really feeling the pressure on Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios right now. They absolutely have to nail the next Avengers saga – specifically Doomsday and Secret Wars. That’s why it seems like all his attention is on those projects. He knows the fate of the entire franchise basically rests on whether those films deliver. It’s a lot to ask, but if they don’t succeed, things could get really shaky for Marvel’s future.
It’s important to remember that Doomsday and Secret Wars aren’t typical Avengers films. They represent the culmination of the entire Multiverse Saga, making them the most ambitious stories the series has ever attempted. This creates a significant challenge, not only in terms of complexity, but also in trying to re-engage audiences who might have lost interest in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
That’s why Kevin Feige is completely focused on Avengers right now. Updates about the X-Men and plans for future Marvel movies (Phase 7) will have to wait. He wants to finish this two-part Avengers story before he can fully concentrate on what comes next for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
