Warhorse Studios, the developer of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, appears to be shifting towards using artificial intelligence for translations. Max Hejtmánek, a translator and editor who worked on their latest game, recently shared on Reddit that he was laid off on March 27th because the studio plans to rely on AI for all future translations.
A moderator confirmed a post explaining that Hejtmánek was informed his position would be eliminated next month as the company aimed to improve efficiency and cut costs. While Hejtmánek had previously voiced strong opposition to using AI, he hadn’t anticipated it would lead to job loss.

Hejtmánek expressed deep disappointment with the company’s management, especially after dedicating nearly four years to building relationships with his coworkers. He was saddened by the thought of no longer seeing them daily. He also wanted to highlight the impact of increasing AI use on the games industry and emphasize that the company values its employees and the environment.
Although Warhorse Studios hasn’t officially said anything about using AI, co-founder Daniel Vávra has often spoken positively about it. He’s even suggested that AI could allow games to be instantly translated and dubbed into any language upon release, which makes recent claims about their AI use seem quite plausible.
Honestly, I’m really curious about what Warhorse Studios is up to next! It seems like we might get some clues – or the absence of clues – about whether they’re using AI in their next game by checking their Steam page when it eventually goes live. I’m definitely going to be keeping an eye on that!
