After celebrating its 10th anniversary with the Beyond the Strand event, Kojima Productions has revealed they are working on a new game.
The new augmented reality project, called “A New Dawn,” promises a unique experience that’s been compared to the game Death Stranding, but played out in the real world. It’s being developed through a collaboration between Kojima Productions and Niantic, the creators of Pokémon GO.
The new trailer, available to view below, introduces the idea of stepping “beyond the screen” in the near future. Like other projects from the creators of Death Stranding, very little is known about it beyond what’s shown in the trailer itself – it’s all part of the mystery.
What are We Looking at Here?
The trailer begins with scenes of people exploring different locations and discovering augmented reality features. Later, it focuses on a man engaging with a specific landmark that leads him to a nearby zone filled with more interactive experiences.
Okay, so as a fan, the best way I can describe this game is like if Death Stranding and Pokemon GO had a baby! You basically travel around connecting different areas to this network – they call it the chiral network – so people in different places can finally talk to each other. It’s all about building those connections, and it reminds me a lot of the whole delivery/connection aspect of Death Stranding, but with the added element of physically *going* places like in Pokemon GO.
Kojima explained to VGC that the experience of Death Stranding is similar to real life – connecting with people and the world around you in your own city.
Niantic CEO John Hanke explained that their goal is to build a real-world digital environment where people and technology can interact.

We’re still waiting for more information as the project develops. Currently, there’s no announced release date or any specifics on how it will function.
