A classic anime from Toonami is coming back to Adult Swim after a 20-year absence! Even though streaming has changed how we watch anime, Toonami has stayed popular on Cartoon Network by consistently delivering what fans enjoy. It’s still a great place to discover both new and older anime series, and they often highlight exciting releases and revisit beloved classics.
Toonami started June with new anime, including the premiere of My Adventures with Superman Season 3, and they’re planning even more changes before the month is over. They just announced on Facebook that IGPX will be back on Toonami starting June 27th – almost 20 years after it last aired! This will be one of the first times the series has been shown in a long time.
IGPX Returns to Toonami Schedule in June 2026

Toonami announced its upcoming anime schedule, starting Saturday, June 27th. Here’s what you can expect (all times are Eastern Standard Time):
- 12:00AM – My Adventures with Superman Season 3
- 12:30AM – Blue Lock
- 1:00AM – Tokyo Revengers
- 1:30AM – One Piece
- 2:00AM – IGPX
- 2:30AM – Ninja Kamui (English Dub)
- 3:00AM – Blue Exorcist
- 3:30AM – My Adventures with Superman Season 3 (Replay)
The Toonami block will once again be showing IGPX starting June 27th at 2:00 AM EST. It hasn’t been on Toonami since 2023, and this will likely be the remastered version. However, the original anime series hasn’t aired new episodes in almost 20 years, as it finished its run on July 2, 2006. For long-time Toonami viewers, this will be a nostalgic throwback!
Why IGPX Is So Special to Toonami

IGPX, or Immortal Grand Prix, was a unique anime series and a significant moment for Toonami. It marked the first full partnership between Cartoon Network and Production I.G., paving the way for many original anime releases in the years that followed. The English dub featured a talented cast, including Haley Joel Osment, Hynden Walch, Michelle Rodriguez, Lance Henriksen, and Mark Hamill. The show began as a short miniseries and was later expanded into a full series.
You might not immediately think of IGPX when you remember classic Toonami anime like Dragon Ball Z and Mobile Suit Gundam, but its impact was significant. It helped build the strong partnerships we still see today. Now that it’s back on Toonami (and not available for streaming), it’s a perfect opportunity to discover – or rediscover – this show.
