Okay, so the reviews for LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight are out, and everyone seems to really like it! It’s clearly a love letter to Batman, and people are especially loving the open-world design and how it looks. I’m hearing a lot of praise for the combat too – apparently, it feels a lot like the Arkham games, which is awesome. And get this – it sounds like the team who made the Arkham combat actually helped out with this, which explains why it feels so good!
Rocksteady, the studio behind the Batman Arkham series, is credited as a co-developer on the game, according to VGC. Around 24 people from Rocksteady – including senior programmers, artists, a designer, and a producer – contributed to the project. Warner Bros. Games Montreal, known for Batman: Arkham Origins and Gotham Knights, also assisted in development.
It’s important to closely examine the shared development teams from past Batman Arkham games. Whether it’s elements like open-world design, the Riddler’s challenges, or the fluid combat system, the expertise of both Rocksteady and WB Games Montreal would have been incredibly helpful.
LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight arrives on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC on May 22nd. A Nintendo Switch version will follow at a later date. Our review is now available, and we scored the game a nine out of ten – praising its fun gameplay, even though it’s fairly straightforward, along with its excellent presentation and tons of extra things to do.
