LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight Guide – 15 Beginners Tips And Tricks You Need to Know

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is a huge game with a sprawling open-world Gotham City and a really engaging story. There’s tons to do – from finding hidden secrets and collectibles to completing challenges. If you’re just starting out, we’ve put together some helpful tips to get you going in Gotham. Let’s get right into them!

GADGETS AND COMBAT

Okay, so playing Legacy of the Dark Knight, the combat feels totally different from other LEGO Batman games. It’s way more like the Arkham games now, which is awesome! It’s not just about mashing buttons – you really need to use your gadgets strategically. Like, throwing Batarangs to stun enemies or pulling them closer with the Batclaw is super important. Different bad guys need different approaches, so mastering your gadgets is key to winning fights.

PERFECT COUNTER

Blocking enemy attacks is a key part of fighting in Legacy of the Dark Knight, similar to the Arkham games. You can improve this ability, and you’ll definitely want to unlock the ‘perfect counter’ skill as soon as possible. This lets you deal extra damage by timing your blocks perfectly.

CONCUSSIVE BATARANG

You’ll definitely want to unlock the concussive Batarang as soon as possible – it’s available fairly early in the game. These Batarangs attach to enemies and then explode, damaging those nearby. They’re helpful for both sneaking around and fighting, so prioritize unlocking them when you can.

FOCUS SLAM

Focus Slam is a great upgrade to unlock, as it’s really effective in fights. It lets you use the Batclaw to swing enemies around and slam them into the ground, dealing a lot of damage and helping you control groups of enemies.

DISTRACT

In Legacy of the Dark Knight, players can unlock many abilities and upgrades for different characters. One helpful skill is Catwoman’s Distract ability, which lets you summon cats to create a diversion. This allows you to either sneak past enemies or take them on when you’re ready – it’s especially useful when you need to be stealthy.

GOOP TRAIL

In Legacy of the Dark Knight, you can play as Commissioner Gordon, and he has his own special gear and skills. For example, you can upgrade his foam gun to create a sticky trail, letting you set traps on the ground. This is really useful during tough fights, especially when dealing with a lot of enemies.

SCANNING

In Legacy of the Dark Knight, you can scan your surroundings – a common feature in Batman games. This ability is very helpful, letting you spot and tag enemies for stealth, and highlight important objects and areas. Whenever you enter a new location, be sure to use your scan to get your bearings.

WAYNETECH CHIPS

WayneTech Chips are hidden all over Gotham City, and you’ll need to collect them to improve your gadgets. If you encounter these chips while solving puzzles or fighting enemies, be sure to grab them!

MINIKITS

Throughout LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, you’ll find a special minikit in each level. Each one is broken into five pieces hidden throughout the level for you to discover. When you collect all the pieces of a minikit, it’s displayed as a trophy in the Batcave. These minikits don’t affect gameplay, but they’re fun to collect for players who like to find everything!

RIDDLER TROPHIES

Considering how much Legacy of the Dark Knight borrows from the Batman: Arkham games, it’s fitting that it includes collectibles called Riddler trophies. These trophies are hidden all over Gotham City, and you’ll typically need to solve puzzles to find them. While there aren’t as many as in the Arkham games, there are still plenty to discover, and they’re generally enjoyable, making them worth collecting.

MORE COLLECTIBLES

LEGO games from TT Games are known for having tons of collectibles, and Legacy of the Dark Knight is no exception. Beyond WayneTech Chips, Riddler trophies, and minikits, you can find red bricks and over 100 different suits – giving you plenty of reasons to explore every nook and cranny and replay levels to find everything.

BATCAVE

In LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, players can explore Bruce Wayne’s incredible Batcave, and it lives up to the hype! You can also make the underground headquarters your own by customizing it with furniture, decorations, and even expansions. Everything you need to buy these items – studs – can be collected throughout the game, so make sure to gather plenty!

BUILDING VEHICLES

You’ll need studs for more than just improving the Batcave! They’re also used to build new vehicles like different versions of the Batmobile and Batcycle. Plus, you can use Red Power Bricks to customize how those vehicles look.

UNLOCKING SUITS

There are over 100 suits to unlock for the playable characters in Legacy of the Dark Knight. You’ll earn some by completing story missions, but you can also buy them in shops or unlock them by doing activities throughout the open world. Just like with vehicles, you can find Red Powerbricks to get different versions of the suits you’ve already collected.

DIFFICULTY

Okay, so I just finished playing Legacy of the Dark Knight, and it’s a LEGO game through and through – which is great because TT Games always makes these games super accessible for everyone. Honestly, it’s not a hard game, and that’s totally fine! But, I could see some people, especially those who really dig the Arkhamstyle fighting and sneaking, wanting a bit more of a challenge. If that’s you, definitely switch it over to Dark Knight mode. It forces you to actually use* your skills a little more. It’s still not going to be brutally difficult, but it’ll give you a better fight, that’s for sure.
