Lil Jon is facing the unimaginable.
The son of rapper DJ Paul, Nathan Smith, also known as DJ Young Slade, was found dead in Georgia on February 6th, just days after he was reported missing. He was 27 years old.
I’m absolutely shattered. My heart is completely broken over the loss of Nathan, my incredible son. I… I just can’t even begin to express how devastated my wife, Nicole, and I are. It feels unreal. He was everything to us.
He described Nathan as one of the kindest people anyone could hope to know. Nathan was deeply caring, considerate, and always warm and friendly, and he cherished his family and friends.
The 55-year-old fondly remembered his son’s achievements, like graduating from NYU and building a career as a musician – composing, performing, and working behind the scenes as an engineer.
We all loved Nathan very much and were so proud of everything he accomplished. He knew how much we cared for him, and we’re grateful we were able to tell him that before he passed.
On February 6th, the Milton Police Department posted an update on Facebook regarding the disappearance of Nathan, who was reported missing on February 3rd. Police started searching for him after discovering he had left home in a strange way and couldn’t be found.
When they couldn’t find Mr. Smith, search teams looked in a pond at Mayfield Park, close to his home in Milton. Divers from the Cherokee County Fire Department found a body in the pond on February 6, 2026, at around 11:53 a.m.

While we’re still waiting for official confirmation from the Fulton County Medical Examiner, authorities believe the body found is likely that of Nathan.
The department stated that so far, the investigation hasn’t revealed any signs of a crime. However, the Milton Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division will keep the case open and continue to investigate.
