Overall, 2026 was looking like a good year for superhero games, with new titles like LEGO Batman and the highly anticipated Wolverine from Insomniac planned for release, alongside the recent launch of Invincible VS. However, fans waiting for one particular game have received disappointing news: its release has been delayed from 2026 to 2027.
The open-world superhero game Undefeated: Genesis, a sequel to the free-to-play Undefeated, was originally announced in 2023. It quickly gained popularity, earning over 250,000 wishlists on Steam as players anticipated a new superhero adventure built on original characters, rather than relying on universes like DC or Marvel. Developed by Indie-us Games and Chorus Worldwide Games, the game was initially planned for a 2026 release, but has now been delayed until “early 2027.”
Superhero Action Game Undefeated: Genesis Delayed

Undefeated: Genesis is the prequel to the popular 2019 superhero game, Undefeated. Like the original, it’s a free-to-play game with a ‘Very Positive’ rating on Steam, known for its open-world superhero gameplay. However, Genesis shifts the focus towards a single-player story experience. Players will explore the expansive planet of Voltissia after their character unexpectedly develops superpowers. As they journey through the open world, they’ll unlock new abilities that enhance both combat and exploration, creating what developers are calling ‘the ultimate superhero experience’ due to the game’s incredible freedom.
The first trailer revealed a hero with incredible powers – flying, shooting lasers from his eyes, and defeating monsters with his strength. Its anime-inspired art style and action give off a similar energy to Dragon Ball, but with a superhero twist, which has generated a lot of excitement among fans of both genres. A story trailer released late last year further increased interest by showcasing the game’s world, characters, and plot. However, players will now have to wait a bit longer for the game’s release.
Indie-us, the developer of Undefeated: Genesis, has announced a slight delay for the game. They need a bit more time to polish the experience and ensure everything – including the combat, superpowers, exploration, and story – meets players’ expectations. The game will now release in early 2027 instead of 2026.
Despite the game’s delay, the developers have promised to share something new with fans this summer. We won’t be left in the dark until next year, and to ease the disappointment of the delay, Indie-us recently released some new screenshots.
The game Undefeated: Genesis is planned to release on PC and PlayStation 5 next year. While the price hasn’t been announced, it won’t be free-to-play like the original Undefeated.
