Lord of the Rings and X-Men icons set to join graphic new epic from The Brutalist director

Major Hollywood stars, including actors from Lord of the Rings and X-Men, are joining a new, visually striking film project by the director of The Brutalist.

Brady Corbet, the director known for his historical drama with Adrien Brody, is assembling a star-studded cast for his next film, including Cate Blanchett, Michael Fassbender, and Selena Gomez.

Cate Blanchett recently announced she’ll be starring in a new movie directed by Brady Corbet. She shared the news while speaking at the Cannes Film Festival.

The director, known for his Oscar nomination, announced the new project last month at the Storyhouse Screenwriting Festival in Dublin. He mentioned the script is unusually long, clocking in at 200 pages.

Last year’s film, The Brutalist, was already quite long at three and a half hours with a 165-page script. This new movie is likely to be even longer, and ‘epic’ is definitely a fitting description.

TopMob has reached out for comment.

It was already known that Gomez would be in the film, and now Cate Blanchett and Michael Fassbender are also joining what’s becoming a very impressive cast.

Corbet announced that his upcoming and unconventional film will take place in the 1970s and be filmed using a special, uncommon format: 65mm cameras that run eight perforations of film.

The movie covers a large period, starting in the 1800s and continuing to today, but mostly takes place in the 1970s. It’s hard to categorize into one specific genre; it blends many different styles.

Currently, details about the movie’s storyline are scarce. However, it will be an adult-oriented film—rated X—and produced by Andrew Morrison through his Kaplan Morrison production company.

I’m really excited for Corbet’s new movie! It’ll be his fourth feature film as a director – he previously made ‘The Childhood of a Leader’ back in 2015 and ‘Vox Lux’ in 2018, before starting work on this one, ‘The Brutalist’.

While many know her from Lord of the Rings, she’s also acclaimed for her roles in films such as Carol, Ocean’s 8, Tár, and recently, Father Mother Sister Brother.

Michael Fassbender is famous for his role as the villain Magneto in the newer X-Men movies, and Selena Gomez started her acting career on the Disney Channel show Wizards of Waverly Place.
