Lorde Shocks Fans Over New Vinyl Album’s NSFW Image

Lorde‘s NSFW album art isn’t getting the green light from all her fans. 

The well-known artist behind the song “What Was That” caused a stir when she unveiled the artwork for the vinyl version of her upcoming album, titled “Virgin“. This album is set to be released on June 27th.

For this unique edition, Lorde added an insert with a close-up picture of an individual wearing transparent leggings that reveal quite a bit. Specifically, the image provides a peek at the stomach area including the belly button, thighs, and the individual’s private region.

Following the Vinyl’s reveal, many fans expressed feeling shocked by the creative choice. 

On June 27th, someone posted on X (previously known as Twitter): “Just received the new Lorde vinyl and I wasn’t expecting the included insert.

Accompanied by a GIF showing a youthful kid with an astonished expression, someone quipped playfully, “Browsing through timelines mindlessly and suddenly spotting Lorde’s vinyl.

On the other hand, some people didn’t find the picture shocking, as they saw it as a clever artistic expression reflecting the album’s themes about sexuality and personal identity in terms of gender.

One fan expressed their disbelief by saying, “It’s astonishing to see genuine discussions unfolding with people expressing shock and disgust over Lorde’s vinyl album cover. However, one individual defended it, stating, ‘It’s so modest… are people alright? I must ask, how can such a picture be deemed shocking?’

But this isn’t the first time that Lorde has sparked a conversation surrounding her Virgin album.

In April, the singer known for her song “Ribs” sparked online discussions when she unveiled the album cover featuring a pelvic X-ray, which seemed to depict an intrauterine device (IUD), a type of birth control, being implanted in the uterus.

“The IUD on Lorde’s new cover???” one user wrote on X at the time. “CONTRACEPTIVE QUEEN.”
