Overjoyed me today! Caught off guard yet thrilled, I found myself at the Glastonbury Festival witnessing an unexpected performance by none other than Lorde on the Woodsies Stage. All this excitement following the recent debut of her new album, Virgin.
Lorde’s fourth studio album was released at midnight, and she announced that she would play the entire album for the audience. She told them, “To be truthful, I wasn’t sure if I’d create another record. However, here I am, fully back [and] completely free.
Following the performance of tracks from her latest record, the New Zealand artist concluded her act with a pair of her most popular tunes from earlier times – “Ribs” and “Green Light”.
Today’s lineup at the festival features Lola Young, Alanis Morissette, Busta Rhymes, Wet Leg, Biffy Clyro, and The 1975, along with another unannounced performer who’s expected on the Pyramid Stage later – it’s been whispered that it might be Lewis Capaldi.

Before the launch of Virgin, Lorde shared with BBC Radio 1’s Jack Saunders that Charli XCX’s Brat album served as an inspiration for her.
She exclaimed: “Seeing the innocent child emerge truly invigorated me. Engaging with her in such a raw, exposed setting, and observing others warmly receive it, I felt something along the lines of, ‘Ah, alright – this seems worthwhile.’
I’ve been struggling with a lack of self-assurance about my own strength… but then the remixed version ignited something within me, making me think, ‘Wait, others are tuning in and they value what I have to say. My voice truly matters.’
Additionally, she shared with the Sydney Morning Herald about the upcoming album: “Entering this project, I felt a strong urge for something deeply personal and vulnerable to emerge from within me. The entire process left me feeling uneasy.
When you’re exerting all your strength, even just for honesty’s sake, there’s no better way to put it than feeling extraordinarily vibrant or invigorated.
