Bill Nighy, the beloved British actor known for ‘Love Actually,’ is teaming up with Maisie Williams of ‘Game of Thrones‘ for a heartwarming and beautifully written film about a road trip.
I just heard about this new movie, ‘500 Miles,’ and it sounds really sweet. It’s based on a book called ‘Charlie and Me: 421 Miles from Home,’ and it’s about two brothers who go on a road trip – all the way between countries, actually – to try and get their family back together. Apparently, there’s a bit of a family feud they’re hoping to fix!
Tired of his parents’ constant fighting, Finn runs away from home in Yorkshire with his energetic little brother, Charlie. They set off on a journey to Ireland to find their grandfather, a man they both adore.

The parents of the boys, played by Michael Socha (known for This Is England) and Clare Dunne (Small Things Like These, Spider-Man: Far From Home), haven’t spoken to the grandfather since something happened last year, though the details remain unknown.
I was completely charmed by Maisie Williams’ character! She plays this wonderfully free-spirited busker the brothers meet, and she unexpectedly becomes their grounding force. She helps them on their journey to Dingle, in County Kerry, because they believe their grandfather holds the key to reuniting their family. It’s a really sweet and hopeful story.
The first trailer for the film, directed by award-winning Morgan Matthews, offers a sneak peek at the talented cast and the moody, beautiful Irish coastline where it was shot.

The trailer, which is almost two minutes long, opens with a shot of Bill Nighy sadly gazing out to sea from a cliff on a grey day.
The trailer opens with a nostalgic voiceover – “We used to bring them down here” – and quickly shows heartwarming summer memories of a family. It hints at a moving and charming film, introducing us to the family at its core, including Charlie, played by rising star Dexter Sol Ansell.

Ansell Elgort starred as the charming character ‘Egg’ in the recent Game of Thrones series, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which received widespread praise and a particularly satisfying ending. Fans of Game of Thrones might be interested in seeing his new film, 500 Miles, as he appears alongside Maisie Williams.
The new film is a collaboration between New Origin, Port Pictures, and Minnow Films, and features music by rising Irish composer Jamie Duffy.
500 Miles is coming to UK cinemas soon.
