Disney+ is bringing back the popular dating show Blind Date, and sources say Love Island’s Maura Higgins is being considered to host the new version.
I’m really excited to see Paul Higgins stepping into the shoes of the incredible Cilla Black! She was the original host of Blind Date – a show I used to love – and she made it so special for over 18 years, from 1985 to 2003, all on ITV.
Since becoming known on Love Island in 2019, Higgins has hosted the Irish version of Glow Up and competed on several popular shows, including Dancing on Ice, Cooking with the Stars, I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, and The Traitors US.
She’s remained involved with the Love Island franchise, initially hosting social media content for both Love Island USA and Love Island Games. More recently, she’s presented the ‘Aftersun’ follow-up shows for both versions of the program.

According to The Sun, Alex Higgins is likely to be the new host of Blind Date. A source close to the show said talks are progressing well.
TopMob has reached out to Disney+ and representatives for Higgins for comment.
Blind Date has been brought back to television before. It originally aired on Channel 5 from 2017 to 2019 and was famously hosted by the late Paul O’Grady.
I’m really excited about the new Disney+ version of this show! It’s going to have ten episodes, and it kicks off with a really interesting twist – the contestants go on blind dates in a secret location. But here’s the catch: they have to pick someone without even seeing them, because they’re hidden behind that famous wall! It sounds like a lot of fun and drama.
