It’s always fun when a comic book series tries something completely different, and this new series from Image Comics definitely does that! Imagine a world where street racing, K-pop, and magic all come together – that’s the exciting premise of M1: Monster Racing League. Even better, it’s created by a fantastic team including Jae Lee, June Chung, and Robert and Lily Windom of Family Time. We’re thrilled to share an exclusive first look at this incredible debut!

Monster Racing League follows Dev, a 17-year-old racing enthusiast, as she navigates a move to Japan with her father. Initially overwhelmed by the change, Dev finds excitement and mystery when she stumbles upon a hidden world of street racing. The series promises a visually stunning experience, and an animated adaptation is being developed by Emmy Award-winning creator Jeffrey M. Howard.

M1: Monster Racing League Blends Kpop, Manga, Arcane, and More Into A Sleek and Mysterious New Series

Even from the first glimpses of artwork, this world feels captivating and stylish. You can definitely spot influences from popular franchises and genres – it draws inspiration from things like K-pop, Manga, and shows such as Arcane, blended with a bit of the energy of the Fast & Furious movies.

Look, Lee and Chung have created something truly special with their art – it’s unlike anything else I’ve seen. And honestly, I’m excited to see how that unique vision grows as they build out the world and backstory of this series. It really feels like something different, and I hope they keep that going.

Robert Windom shared his excitement about a new comic, explaining that he and Lily developed a captivating and intricate world with compelling characters. He praised the artwork by Jae and June, calling it some of the best he’s ever seen, and expressed his eagerness for readers to experience the story.

Lily Windom shared her enthusiasm for working on M1: Monster Racing League with her father, Jae, and June. She explained that she especially enjoys crafting a story about teenagers dealing with extraordinary challenges.

I’m completely blown away by Robert and Lily’s new work – it’s seriously epic! It’s actually inspired me to finally try something I’ve always dreamed of: creating manga! I’m diving in, and honestly, I’m having a ton of fun with it. We’re really committed to this project; it’s the biggest thing I’ve ever taken on professionally. We have so many issues planned, it’s a little overwhelming, but in the best way! I really hope you’ll check it out when it’s released – we’re putting our hearts into it.
