2025 saw Bachelor Nation alum Madison “Madi” Prewett openly discuss her previous battles with adult content consumption and self-pleasure in a frank podcast appearance.
In the year 2020, Madi, who was the runner-up on Peter Weber’s season of “The Bachelor,” got married to Grant Troutt, a pastor, in July 2022. Their first child, a daughter named Hosanna Rose, arrived in January 2025.
Before appearing on her Bachelor season and getting married, Madi chose to live a life dedicated to chastity, having previously struggled during her teenage years to overcome addiction to pornography and self-pleasure.
In her “Stay True” podcast in June 2025, she explained that keeping secrets tends to foster more wrongdoing and embarrassment, as such environments are favorable for the adversary to grow.
Keep scrolling for some of Madi’s honest thoughts about sexuality and marriage:
‘A Life of Bondage’
In a June 2025 episode of her “Stay True” podcast, Madi opened up about wrestling with moral dilemmas surrounding pornography and self-pleasure during her middle and high school years.
She expressed gratitude for being free from pornography and masturbation for approximately ten years, acknowledging the role of divine grace, her godly community, and those around her in this achievement. However, she emphasized that these struggles had once held a significant grip on her life for a long time. Regardless of her deep affection for Jesus, she found it challenging to rid herself of this sin and break free from its grasp.
As a 13-year-old, Madi recalled her initial exposure to themes of sexual activity and casual dating through music and television programs.
She shared, “At the age of around thirteen, I found myself experiencing curiosity, certain emotions, or imagining various things, but never disclosed this to anyone. I didn’t act upon it, but my curiosity was piqued. One day at a friend’s house when her parents weren’t present, she turned on a show that was highly inappropriate for my age.
In her own words, Madi recounted experiencing sensations that were entirely novel to her, particularly the sensation of “strong desire.” This sparked her exploration into adult content, but she justified this action to herself as she was not physically engaging in sexual activities with her partner.
Madi emphasized, ‘It was there that I tumbled, and I clung to the deception I thought was true. This deception, in turn, bound me for life.’
‘Gray Areas’

In simpler terms, Madi shared with her podcast audience that the main guideline her parents set was “abstain from sexual activity.” At that point in her life, however, she had limited knowledge about sexuality.
She clarified, “Everything else seemed uncertain to me. What about the other matters, such as pornography and slightly overstepping with your partner? Those were the vague aspects of this ‘purity’ concept that left me unsure and uncertain. Due to my ambiguity, I kept testing boundaries and venturing beyond what I felt deep within my heart was appropriate or advisable.
‘Living in Isolation’
In the course of her podcast discussing sexuality, Madi contemplated the experience of living completely alone as she had never disclosed her curiosity towards pornography and self-pleasure to anyone.
She contended that when one leads a hidden life, it tends to foster more guilt and embarrassment, as this is an environment where adversity flourishes. It wasn’t until she started sharing her situation with others, and stopped letting secrecy and solitude control her life, that she was able to break free.
As a teenager, Madi found her solitary lifestyle extremely challenging for an extended period because it left her feeling deprived of self-assurance.
She admitted feeling self-critical and trapped by guilt because she deeply loved Jesus and yearned to live a life dedicated to Him, yet she was unsure of how to escape her current situation – her struggle with sin. She questioned her value and sense of self. Each time she succumbed to sexual temptation, she felt uncertain about her reason for being.
‘A Life of Purity’
In her personal podcast, Madi revealed that her husband, Grant, had a significantly different approach to intimacy when they started their relationship. It’s worth noting that Grant is the son of Kenny Troutt, a prominent figure in telecommunications who has previously appeared on the Forbes list of the world’s wealthiest individuals.
In simpler terms, Madi stated that Grant belonged to a group who seemed to think, “I’ve had sexual experiences before, so why should I worry? It’s just another chapter in my life.” This perspective persisted as an ongoing issue for him, leading to continued sexual encounters with others.
According to the former Bachelor Nation participant, it wasn’t until Grant consented to lead a “chaste lifestyle” that their beliefs began to become more compatible.
‘A Radical Transformation’
In my expertise, I can attest that I personally witnessed a profound shift in Grant’s philosophical outlook when he chose to release his past burdens.
She stated on her podcast that he began adopting responsibility in his personal life, opting for a cleaner way of living. However, she acknowledged that he wasn’t flawless and admitted that there were instances where he stumbled.
The television personality affirmed that Grant’s decision to focus on “achieving purity” enabled them to proceed towards an engagement.
In her words, she pointed out that at the altar, when we pledged our entire being – mind, body, and spirit – to each other and to God, there was an overwhelming sense of joy and tranquility because we knew it was a path we had chosen separately and collectively.
‘God Can Use The Bachelor’

During her time, Madi was preparing herself to become a pastor, but she also tried out for ‘The Bachelor’ season 24. She managed to get onto the ABC program and came second when Peter proposed to Hannah Ann Sluss. However, after their March 2020 finale, Peter confessed he still had feelings for Madi, which led them to separate. They briefly reconnected but ultimately decided not to maintain a relationship.
In an interview with The Christian Post back in September 2021, Madi expressed that her decision to appear on The Bachelor was motivated by the desire to inspire fellow Christians to broaden their perspectives.
She expressed that not only did she personally learn and grow so much, but it was also an amazing experience for everyone whom God addressed and inspired through this, as she found it incredibly humbling to say, ‘Even someone like me, or something seemingly trivial like The Bachelor, can be used by God to bring glory to his name, demonstrating the vastness of who he is.’
A ‘Modern Esther’
In the TV show “The Bachelor”, Madi drew a parallel with the biblical tale of Esther to explain her act of sharing her faith. (Esther was a Jewish queen in Persia, whose influence helped protect her community from oppression in the Bible.)
She expressed her desire to make it clear that, much like Esther, one needs to break free from their past, challenge preconceived notions, and find the courage to act even when fearful, as she shared with The Christian Post. She yearns for contemporary Esthers in today’s society to rise up, declare their identity boldly, and say, ‘I am who God says I am, not what others tell me I am. I will walk confidently, convinced, and courageously.’
‘The Male Brain’
In October 2022, Madi and Grant tied the knot. Later on, in April 2023, Madi revealed to Us Weekly that cohabiting with Grant brought about some unforeseen hurdles.
She humorously stated, “Since I didn’t grow up with brothers, I’m discovering the thought processes of men.” Essentially, she said, “It’s fascinating! I’ve been surrounded by women my whole life, so it’s a fresh experience for me to be around males. It’s like, ‘Wow, this is how you think? This is what goes on in your mind?’
She continued by sharing, “For the past two years, I resided with my dearest friend, followed by living with my siblings. It’s been quite an enjoyable experience, learning about the distinctiveness between male and female minds, as well as our contrasting expectations.
‘How to Communicate’
In 2023, during our conversation, Madi admitted that she faced certain hurdles related to communication in the initial phase of her marriage.
She admitted, “During the first month, I wasn’t particularly skilled at expressing my expectations clearly. Consequently, he would often remark, ‘But you didn’t tell me!’ To which I responded, ‘You make a valid point.’ What we are essentially learning is how to effectively communicate our desires, requirements, and expectations to each other.
The Greatest Gift
Approaching their four-month wedding anniversary in April 2023, Madi noted that the newlywed pair was “continually growing and learning” every single day.
Madi expressed to us that his friend is simply the best one he has in the entire world,” she said. “It’s only been four and a half months, so we’re still discovering new things about each other. However, we feel incredibly fortunate to be part of such a supportive community. We have mentors who inspire us, and people we admire, with whom we regularly exchange questions, prayers, and encouragement. We are truly grateful for these wonderful individuals as we navigate our own journey through marriage.
‘My Best Friend’
In April 2024, during a chat with Bachelor Nation, Madi shared some recent developments about the joyous aspects of her married life.
She glowed with delight, expressing her deep affection for marriage. Every moment spent with Grant feels like a blessing, as he is not only her husband but also her dearest companion in life.
Madi mentioned, ‘I strive to live in the present as much as I can, savoring each moment and appreciating where I am.’
