Maggie Robertson says “hell yeah” to playing Lady Dimitrescu in a Resident Evil movie ahead of hosting Golden Joysticks 2025

The Golden Joystick Awards 2025 are almost here, and the competition for Best Adaptation is expected to be particularly fierce this year.

Arcane, The Last of Us, and Minecraft are all competing to be recognized as the best adaptation of a video game into a movie or TV show.

Inspired by the excellent movie and TV adaptations of 2025, this year’s event host, Maggie Robertson, shared with TopMob Gaming her dream of seeing some of her own characters brought to life on screen.

She enthusiastically agreed when asked if she’d be willing to play the character again, saying, “Absolutely!”

I’ve grown to really love these characters, despite their flaws. As an actor, I genuinely enjoy portraying them; they’re a joy to play.

These stories have had a huge impact on my life, so I’d jump at the chance to revisit them in some way. I’m determined to keep their spirit alive, and that’s why I’m doing this.

Though she’s recognized for characters like Orin in Baldur’s Gate 3, Maggie Robertson is best known for playing Lady Dimitrescu in Resident Evil Village. Her performance as Lady Dimitrescu was so acclaimed that she won a Golden Joystick award for Performance of the Year in 2021.

I’m really curious about where they’ll take this story next, and Robertson’s mentioned she’s especially excited about the possibility of seeing it as a TV series. It just feels like this story would really work well in that format!

There have been many live-action Resident Evil adaptations, and while those are great, we haven’t explored animation yet. An animated series or movie could be really exciting.

There are a lot of animated shows with unique art styles coming out right now, and I’d love to explore something similar. I think an animated version of Baldur’s Gate would be fantastic – they’ve already shown how well it could work with those great animated shorts they released.

Animation offers a lot of freedom because it doesn’t have to stick to reality, which allows for plenty of comedic opportunities. This is especially true for a game like Baldur’s Gate, where the characters are already so larger than life.

Honestly, knowing how much I love animated stuff, it totally makes sense that Robertson picked this year’s best adaptation – it was pretty obvious to me, actually!

She excitedly confessed, “I can’t stop thinking about Arcane – I’m completely obsessed with it! It’s always on my mind.”

Everything about it is fantastic – the performances, the animation, the music, and the way the story unfolds. I especially appreciate how well-developed each character’s individual story is.

I find myself completely captivated by this game-turned-TV show. Unlike other stories that switch between characters, I never lose interest because I think every single character is fantastic and I’m eager to discover more about them.
