The Man of Tomorrow movie has found its Maxima.
The new Superman movie, titled ‘Man of Tomorrow,’ is coming to US theaters next summer. James Gunn wrote and directed the film, and Nicholas Hoult and David Corenswet will return as Lex Luthor and Superman/Clark Kent, respectively.
For several months, rumors have circulated that Maxima, a DC character debuting in 1989’s Action Comics #645 and created by Roger Stern and George Pérez, will be featured in the upcoming film, Man of Tomorrow. Earlier this month, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Adria Arjona, Eva De Dominici, Sydney Chandler, and Grace Van Patten were the final contenders for the part.
Who is playing Maxima in Man of Tomorrow?
Actress Jaz Sinclair, who you may recognize from roles in Hit Man and Andor, is reportedly going to play the character Maxima in the upcoming film, Man of Tomorrow. Though The Hollywood Reporter isn’t sure if the casting is confirmed, Variety and Deadline both state that Sinclair has been cast as Maxima.
It’s still unclear how important a character Maxima will be in the movie. In the comic books, Maxima is an alien queen fixated on Superman, believing he’s the only one worthy of being her partner. She started as a villain, interfering with Clark and Lois’s relationship due to this obsession, but later became a hero, joining the Justice League.
The upcoming film, “Man of Tomorrow,” will feature an unlikely team-up between Superman and Lex Luthor as they face a major new enemy – likely Brainiac, played by Lars Eidinger. While specific plot details are being kept secret, the movie’s cast includes Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Aaron Pierre as John Stewart, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, and Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific.
Man of Tomorrow arrives on July 9, 2027.
